Some words about "Proof Photos"

1) If the "proof photo" shows only the celebrity and a "blank" copy of the LP in question it is not proof. If you can't see a matching signature clearly, what have you? Nothing.

2) If the LP you bought has vintage damage not seen on the blank unsigned LP said celebrity is holding in their hands in the "proof photo" (unsigned), it is NOT proof. It is NOT the copy you bought. (Prove it is not a copy I own).

3) If said photos are altered beyond recognition, or are used to sell LP's that are NOT even shown with the celebrity, what are they worth?

4) Further, speaking of another "seller", if a seller can be shown to be factually lying on at least two counts, of great import, would this matter to you? If the graph you seek is unusual from this seller - would you buy? Knowing he has lied twice over? And is currently selling demonstrable factual forgeries - would this matter to you?

5) If a seller says "I got it myself or I bought it at auction" and then refuses to reveal the dates or auctions, would this matter to you? Especially when the seller normally, despite claiming otherwise, states his sources, but...just not to you alone (because "you would't buy it if you knew where I got it"). Would this mean anything to you?

PS - If the signature appears OK, but the seller swears that the "proof photo" is the exact copy being offered when it is clearly and visibly not - would you just pass on it?

Keep in mind, the celebs KNOW what you're doing, and they don't like it. They feel you want PROOF because you're a dealer.

As a fan...you have to do your own homework and study the different variations of signature through the years! So many people write in to this site saying,"What do you think of this...or what do you think of that?" You have to look at different examples. You have to be a smart...or maybe a somewhat studious collector. Never mind the "photo proof" crap.

Buy from reputable dealer...learn to recognize the real thing...thoughts?

Agree. While I have 1 or 2 photo proof (true proof) I obviously do not collect, buy or sell based on it. The Pumpkins CD happened to have it. Even ignoring the photo thing, one could still wind up with a secretarial from some reputable dealers - in the end you will look out for your interests better than most.

correct becuase the taps suxs .i would rather know the guy im getting it from then trust becket or roger as all there doing is looking at examples that might possible be correct and your paying them for guessing .i could ask miss cleo if its real also she has as much chance as being correct as the taps and shes dead.

People now don't want to take time to study....they want instant..."Is this real?...huh?...tell me now!!!" You're never going to learn that way. So many..."ahem"....dealers have the photo "proof" deal. I've seen the classic Bono photo where it looks like he's signing a guitar

...but they later find out he's singing an autograph book...and they photo shopped a guitar

into the photo...and they got caught selling bogus items using the photo "proof" scam...
