Hello all I'm Clayton,

This is my first time on this forum. After reading a lengthy discussion about authenticity when I searched on google, I concluded that you all would be the gentlemen I should direct all my authenticity questions towards.

Below is an eBay auction link I am interested in purchasing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110699418606...

I have also attached photos of each signature he took individually upon my request, which look a lot like stock photos to me, but the Aaron signature makes me think they are not stock photos.

I usually only buy JSA, PSA/DNA, and Steiner authenticated products (I do have a few authenticated by others but after learning a little more have moved more towards those three) I would like to know your opinion on this item in particular and the reputation of Mounted Memories industry wide.

Thank you!

Mounted Memories is a reputable company.  They have private signing contracts with players like Peyton Manning, Pete Rose, and Dan Marino.  I assume you are safe but you should ask him what his return policy is if they were to fail an examination from the big three authentication companies.   The Aaron looks spot on; very similar to the one I have that is PSA/Dna so I think your good.  A second opinion would always help though.  Good luck!- Mike P.

Thank you for your input. I'll ask, I appreciate it.
Every NASCAR signature they have ever offered has been 100% authentic.
Thank you very much!

I've only seen and heard good things about Mounted Memories.  An important thing to note however is that the minimum bid is $99 but the RESERVE IS NOT MET.  Wasn't sure if you noticed that or not.  Who knows how much the seller is really asking.

Thank you for your opinion. And yes, I'm very familiar with the way eBay and the reserve prices work but thank you for the information.

Clayton,

I answered your question on your other post.  You might want to take a look just to verify some information.  Mounted Memories is very reputable having done private signings with top athletes as well as sponsoring them at shows.  The Mays is good, I raised a question for you on the Aaron and the Bonds with my other reply.

Yes sir. Thank you.

I've asked the questions to the seller and have received confirmation that the Aaron ball does have the mounted memories sticker affixed (it struck me as odd too as I have a psa/dna gem mint Aaron that looked a little different and the sticker was not visible, hence the reference in the post). The Bonds ball does have the Bonds 25 sticker on it in addition to the mounted memories authentication.

Knowing these additional details, what do you think? Thanks!

Clayton,

Knowing what Bonds admitted during his trial, I would hesitate on the Bonds ball.  Aside from the authenticity, Bonds memorabilia has taken a nosedive.  I doubt he will ever get in the Hall of Fame and there is a lot of animosity from the older generation of baseball players.  Most people no longer consider him the record holder for home runs. Same goes for McGwire.  Since there is a reserve on the items, you really don't know what the seller is thinking.  You can get an Aaron and Mays ball for a reasonable price by themselves.  i don't think I would pay a premium for a Bonds ball that I'm not sure about.  I personally think that Mounted Memories put their hologram on a ball that is from Bonds' company but they did not do a private signing with him.  Take a look and see what each of the balls are selling for separately so you can get an idea what would be a reasonable price.  I myself sold all of my Bonds items as soon as I was sure he was using HGH.  I did the same with my Clemens items and anybody who cheated.

I've always viewed Mounted Memories' reputation as being on par with Steiner.  They hold public and private signings (including the excellent Sun-Times Sports Show in Chicago), and their authenticity is certainly amongst the safest bets in the sports memoribilia industry.  I don't know how they fare in regards to selling vintage items - i.e. items that weren't signed in fron of a MM rep, but I wouldn't think twice about buying items from their public or private signings.

Agreed.
