I've never looked for his sig before but I know he's in my top faves for old blues. And partly because Cptn Beefheart mimicked him who is among my all time faves.

My last name in Dutch/Hungarian mash up means howling wolf so i am down on him, but not  authencticity

just got the great CD Pete's Blues-legendary cover

I had the privilege of seeing Hubert play one time about 6 months before he passed away in a small venue with Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. Hubert did not do any graphs as he was too ill to play more then a few songs. Was amazing, however, to hear Smokestack Lightning with the same licks as recorded so many years ago. That's a nice piece.

that's a fantastic story and boy did you get lucky to see him.

Thx for commenting TB, I was hoping you'd see this

btw.... did Hubert ever sign as Howlin Wolf?

I have never seen Hubert sign as Wolf . Their signature styles were quite different from one another. Attached are a few examples of Wolf signatures as found on AML. One of these is signed by both Hubert & Wolf so you can compare their signatures there. A couple examples also show Wolf signing with his moniker plus his legal name, Chester Burnett.. The signature with just his moniker is the more common from what I have seen.
