Advice on removing inscriptions etc on my autographs

Hey guys

Just need some advice on removing inscriptions etc from my autographs.....is eucalyptas oil ok ? If not whats best to use without making mess ?

“can” not does . the value is in the eye of the buyer. I would posit that there are plenty of buyers on both sides. I used to try and avoid inscription. I have come around to embrace them. You know what they say about opinions...lol

It's like that in the book world as well. No one wants books signed by modern authors: "To Joe, with best wishes." The so-called "flat signed" craze. The only exception seems to be very well known century-old authors like Hemingway, were an inscription seems to add value. People are just more curious about what they had to write and to whom.

Collectors have it backwards - inscriptions should add 50% to the value. Otherwise just makes it easy for the forgers to do a few circles and scribbles and have it be the end of it.

And I know it for a fact as Rush fans are the pickiest collector's I have ever come across. A dedication is the death sign for resale value.

But, I prefer dedications and inscriptions. To me, more is more.

So ya, it's a matter of opinion that's all

This being said.... I would think trying to remove any ink is a very risky process and severe damage could be incurred. Then you have an item worth less than you think you started with.

I also buy graphs with inscriptions and dedications and don"t mind them as they too add mire words and so more value to the puece in my opinion. Plus as they are a lot of people dislike them u often get dedicated items cheaper thinking of my fully signed Pearl Jam LP in mint condition I got for 400 Dollar only because ut was dedicated to James b three members. I nean I never saw a better signed album from then befire plus Vedder deew a beautiful wave how much better could it get?

The OP asks for practical advice on doing something, and instead receives a boat load of condescending replies aiming to shame them for even asking the question.

Show the specific item you want to "fix" (or "deface" as some would call it), and I will give an honest and to the point answer on what solution I think will work best. It's also true, like someone mentioned, it's sometimes best to leave it alone.

I havent done anything yet ...i simply was going to remove my name from the top of two autographs in the following attached photos ...if you think i should leave them on there and sell it as is i will do so

I have bought a ronnie james dio signed vinyl that was personalized by vinnie appice and that was for $250 aud

Is this a book or some sort of print? If so, you cannot remove the dedications. It won't work. You'll just end up smearing it.

You can only remove certain types of ink from lab produced glossy photographs because the ink is technically "sitting" on the surface. If it is something with a porous surface that the ink has "sunk into," there is nothing you can do.

Looks like a tourbook or programme. The pages seems to be at least semi glossy, and Sharpies are pretty light weight as far as markers go. It could work, but it would probably be best to do some testing first. Personally, with a band like AC/DC, I wouldn't touch it.
