Hi All,

First of all would just like to say what a great forum,
some very interesting discussions. I'm just getting into collecting and only
have a very small collection so far so this is a great starting point!

I purchased a Michael Jackson autograph Thriller LP Flat
framed from Antiquities Of California back in 2009 and after reading some discussions
on some potential doubts with the store would like anyone to give me their
opinion. This wasn't cheap and after reading some of the reviews about
Antiquities of California would like to ask any collectors out there to give me
their own opinion on the authenticity.

I have actually visited the store when on vacation in SFO and this was one of my basis for buying from them as they seemed to be fairly reputable.

Would greatly appreciate anyone's time and assistance!

Thanks

Marc

You mean i may have bought an authentic Item LOL - BIG Smiles from me

History of it is that a woman in Australia swindled a company of $49 million b4 they realised it and she went on spendin spree for 18 monthas b4 getting caught - she bought abot 20 or so Jacksons including 2 fedoras that were then auctioned after she was sentenced - i picked up the above and a 24x36" poster signed love from MJ (his sig)

Thanks for your assistance Steve

Great story. Well I'm no expert on these, so someone who knows more could easily point out what's wrong with it. My girlfriend just looked yours and says the M is too wide, but she's an occupational therapist...not a collector. Upload the poster!
The poster has had a hrad life - like me - but here goes

Both the MJ "To Mickey" Thriller and Jacksons "Destiny" LPs are authentic. Thriller early to mid 1980's, Destiny is from the last year of his life or so. I'm interested in hearing about this Australian auction, do you have a link to the completed results Grant?

It was a Grayson line auction that finished on 31st 3 2o11 and finished at 9.30pm Aussie time - the only way that i can view it is by going to lost/won items on my personal page. I bid on 24 lost items and won 2 so their was at least 26 albums approx 12 Thriller, couple of Wiz posters, fedora and heaps more - the auction number was 2021907

Regards

Grant - thanks for reply JA, Steve and of course Steve's girlfriend

James, I'm going to disagree with you for once--I don't think the poster is good. I'm doubting the signature on the Thriller album this morning, but who knows? They both could be fine.
Until experts opine, it's only a collectors' discussion...unless it's super-obvious. An important part of this site is the learning process.

I think there's a lot to be said for collectors and dealers who may not be experts to give an opinion, as long as they say make that clear. It gives them a psychological investment in their education.  I usually qualify my comments by saying I'm not an expert, but I didn't make it clear this time.

Next 3 darts: leaning towards not, no idea, really sure good.

Hmmm... good, good, not for the first 3.

Greg,

Where did this autograph come from and when was it supposedly signed?

It has some important similarities to the autograph on a T-Shirt consigned by Steve Manning in the www.gottahaveit.com rock auction starting next week. MJ signed it for Manning in 1997.
