Beatles Magical Mystery Tour set- copy?

There are a lot of great items available at auction this next week and I recognize most of them from the last 20 years but this new one on R&R has got me doubting myself and could use some help.

It looks great but a little too familiar... anyone remember this one that was signed for the boy in the opening scene of the movie that sold at Bonhams like 5 years ago and again at Gotta Have It last year...

Is it possible that these were signed immediately after each other? There are extremely subtle differences in each signature but they are 99.9% identical. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Wouldn't the purpose of altering the "fake" set be to hide the fact that it's a copy of another set? Why incoroporate so many subtle differences while leaving the sets looking so similar? Are there any other examples of this?

I changed my post somewhat, which is why I deleted.

I was just going by what was posted earlier. I agree it doesn't make sense to add subtle differences, but the ink splotches are the main concern for me.

Even the line under Paul's name is different, but when a lot of money is at stake, I would imagine fakers would be quite brilliant.

I would love for mine to be real, but it seems very suspect.

unforunately, I am the guy who purchased these from Omega Auctions last September in a UK auction.

After seeing these posts, I have to believe either one or both of these are fake.

As someone mentioned earlier, while there are numerous subtle differences in the actual letters, the ink splotching on both Paul and George, looks to be identical. I just don't see how that can happen.

I don't think I will ever be able to sell them .

I am a huge Beatles fan, but a novice at buying things like this. I would be embarrassed to admit how much I paid for these, as it is probably twice what they would be worth if authentic.

I have two blurry pictures of the boy, a letter from (supposedly) him an the page you see here. I would be glad to post any pics.

I had them framed per museum quality, you can see a subtle fold vertical and horizontal, but the framing guy did a good job and you cannot see the small tear at the top of the page.

I wish I had seen this site a year ago, it would have saved me from a stupid decision.

I contacted Omega Auctions numerous times about authentication before the auction. They assured me everything was fine and had them looked at by a prominent autograph authenticator. I contacted him an he stated he thought the were ok, and I got a letter from him, but my bet is I will never be able to sell them.

My fore' into collecting started and ended with this episode.

I'm glad you found us, and thanks for joining the discussion. We all appreciate your open mind and wanting to help authenticity get figured out. That says a lot about you.

RR Auction and Roger believe both sets are real, as do other members here who are good with Beatles autographs. In fact, there are more people who think it's good than don't at this time.

Please do post the provenance that came with it. That could be very helpful.

Ok, I will post the letter, which is typed and signed.

Both pictures are poor quality (blurry)

i had one picture framed, with the letter, and signed doc in another frame.

I will post tomorrow, as it is getting late in Florida.

Here are the photos and the letter.

I might add also that Omega auctions presented this to me as being sold by the boy who supposedly got them originally, and one of the earlier posts said these had been sold at least twice before.

Which to me kind of adds to the "swindle" aspect of this from my perspective. I suppose I could be being too negative. But I went back and forth with them for something like two weeks and they assured me they were genuine.

I will have to go back in my notes and see because I believe I even asked them if I found them to be fake, would they return my money. I don't recall but I believe they said they would, but good luck getting that to happen right?

Hi Richard, do you have a phoTo of your set? Is it torn in two? I have been following this set for over 5 years and almost bought it twice. I know it well. I tend to think that if one of the sets is not authentic, it would be the RR one if it didn’t come with a letter as yours did. They said they came from the same consignor. Why then wouldn’t there be two letters?
