Richard Burton Vintage 1976 Signed Unique Candid 8"x 10"

Candid color matte finish 8" x 10" Kodak paper print of Richard Burton heading out of the hotel Lombardy to perform the last of the Equus plays in 1976, signed twice, more or less, in black felt tip. Unusually inscribed "love", it is indeed signed twice. Also signed by the collector (who wrote an entire book on the back about getting this signed)..

Anyone? Opinions needed for sale of item.

Anybody???

Eric, it definitely has a shot although it is terribly rushed if so.

Hi Joe, thank you. I'm sure it is his hand - I've collected Burton for many years. By the mid 1960's his writing was nothing like it was mid 1950's. Very illegible. I think there are 1 or 2 secretarials as well in there. I am just looking for conformation to sell. I have an original still from the film version which I plan to offer as well with this unique candid.

Indeed, in person obtained signatures can vary greatly. The story on the back would definitely add credibility. Did the person say why he signed it twice?

I should scan it - she literally covered the entire Reverse of the 8x10 with a full description of the event. No, she did not mention why. I imagine she was a little "overjoyed" and he just grabbed it again and signed "Richard B" - he was heading to the theater for the final performance so in a hurry. Most unusual for the "Love" part. You know, he is only 50 here!

Is that her signature on the photo as well? And her pictured?

Yes, that is her. She signed front and back. From the text on the Reverse she seems to have traveled quite a distance to accomplish this.

Here is another example of an IP color candid:

And here is a b/w candid signed in fountain in the '50's:

This is more in line with what I've seen. You have convinced me the OP is very rushed street obtained signature.

Hi Joe,

Here is what Cecelia wrote on the back of the Burton - great provenance if lengthy and repetitive. Good thing this is 8x10 with all she had to say!
