Tony,

If you're a collector, using your real name could put you at greater risk of being robbed, especially if you're home address is investigated and published like the fraudsters did to another member here, so I understand people not using it. That's why we only require members to use their real names if they work in the autograph industry.

The situation here is not that Greg isn't using his real name, or what he's talking about. It's the way he's doing it.

Steve,

I understand the screen names.  I have my own.  That serves the purpose you suggest, which is very valid.

I guess its really the same thing, but it seems more cryptic and questionable, if instead of using a screen name, which is easily identifiable as such, you create a different identity.  It seems like the intent would be to deceive.  but again, I guess its all the same, and certainly in line with the tone of this thread.

It´s sad...i read 10 pages and still not know if the autograph is real or not. maybe lost in translation.

Greg,

Roger's gone. This had nothing to do with your topics. It has to do with your refusal to act responsibly, after I've asked you to many times. And based on this last post, you still aren't.

You don't get many experts like Roger who are generous enough to give their expertise away for free, often, especially when they're a target of the forgery industry like Roger is. And the way you've acted recently is a prime reason why.

No good deed goes unpunished.

This is VERY interesting to me. The "to" is exactly the same on the postcard as well as the lyrics.  Either they are both bad or both good.

This is actually off topic, but since this thread is getting viewed alot, i have to say how i was shocked when i viewed the ANL website today. It was the first time i had been to the site and i wanted to see if they had any interesting conversations up. I mean with a name like Autograph News Live i thought their would be up to date posts and stories about everything autograph related, and since new stuff happens all the time i thought their at least would be some cool discussions. Well i was very badly mistaken, i was shocked to find that probably 8 out of 10 posts were aimed at discrediting or attacking this site and its members. It wasnt just a simple " i know their wrong, or he or she is a bad authenticator", it was that same thing worded a thousand different ways in a thousand different posts. Typically by the same people. They obviously are monitoring this site, and it seems that is their whole life. I really dont think they are paying much attention to the hobby at all, and instead are getting their gollies by ragging on the people that participate here. Truly a bit shocked. I mean im a member of Startiger.com to get info if i need it, and i thought that the dozen or so guys that like to comment on it all the time and who think they are hot s"""it by putting others down, were bad. But at least startiger has some really cool threads and stories much like this site, and it also is  a great source of TTM data. I have just never seen so many personal attacks to so few informative posts. Im used to seeing all sorts of attacks, but not over and over again to the point that it just gets absurd. Very frustrating and it make me mad, i cant imagine how the ones who they attack feel.

Chris

Yeah, its wierd. I don't know how or why this started and in many cases I don't know the crooks from the

honest people. Odd thing is it seems to benefit neither the crooks nor the honest people.

In fact, I do think the consumer has benefited from all this industry dirty laundry coming out of these blogs.

So, I notice that Coaches Corner sells several Elvis items each month.  Sometimes, the signatures match the few shown here. Is there a connection from Germany?

Here is one from the current auction:

This is a VERY interesting topic. Greg, I love the way you break everything down.  While some people take issue with your "style" I think you make fantastic points and are educating collectors.

To that particular point, no, I don't think there is. I don't check Coaches Corner every month, but when I do, they're all just straight up forgeries, not even Hans Bakker type and not even trying, like above. Very, very bad forgeries. At least they sell for next to nothing.

I'm sure they have moved several Bakker forgeries in their time though :(   I'm also sure that they are losing sleep over it too.

I think a Bakker would sell for more on eBay to be honest than Coaches Corner.

Here's a record sleeve, with the facsimile signature on the back traced over in blue pen:

It sold for $589 with shipping.

This is, maybe secretarial, not genuine signed Elvis photo with two certs (they bought it off eBay then added the GA, I think that's your company :/). It sold for $1,864.95 with shipping just recently as well.

Thats so sad to see!

There are too many facsimile signature offred on ebay.

And poor buyer dont pay attention to that. facsimile, promo cards, postcards collages, record sleves & photos. ew.
