This would be about 1968.  If it 's her, she also wrote the name of a fellow she corresponded with.  How's it look?

I've been meaning to post my own Louise Brooks for the last week and I've finally got around to scanning it.

It is an original vintage 10" x 8" publicity still by Gene Robert Richee with his blind stamp to the front lower right and his ink stamps to the back.

I believe the autograph is also vintage. I don't actually recall seeing another vintage Brooks autograph for sale but please post details of any you've seen.

By the way, can this really be the only thread on Brooks? When I searched for her name this was the only thread that came up.

Here are the scans:

Great vintage piece! She is rare but not Garbo rare.

I'm certain that I've never seen a vintage signed photo from her before.  I have seen a vintage album page...but that's about it.  Everything else seems to have come from the period in the 60's-80's when she was being "rediscovered".  When she was active in film from the mid-20's  - mid-30's, she was not a major star (at least in the States) and so was not as sought out as her contemporaries in movies.

I'd say this is as rare is it comes.....Congrats on acquiring it!  It also gives me hope to keep searching!

I certainly didn’t mean any slight in my response. This is a fantastic piece that I would give anything to own. I can say that I’ve seen Brooks vintage photos signed (ultra rare). I can never say that I have seen an authentic signed vintage Garbo portrait. Brooks is like the Gehrig to Garbo’s Ruth.

Nick, here is an absolutely beautiful Garbo that sold for around $17,000 at RR Auctions (click on image to see it in its full glory):

Here is another RR Auctions piece that also sold for around £17,000. It's a photo of a sketch so not really a signed photo in the classic sense:

Here's another signed photo but I don't know where it sold and I'm not so sure it's genuine:

I've now seen that the last Garbo was also sold through RR Auctions so I presume it is also OK.

Amazing pieces! Thanks for showing them as I had no idea they existed. A little out of my price range, lol.

Here's one from the silent film era that is beyond rare, probably unique.   It's ill-fated Florence Lawrence....the Biograph Girl....and America's first movie star.  This is c. 1910.

Very, very rare! Great seeing that piece. Another one I have never seen is an authentic Olive Thomas piece. Have you ever come across one from her?

I thought I had the only James Murray (The Crowd) autograph up until recently when I saw someone post one, I think it was HistoryDirect. A lot of rare items coming out of the woodwork lately, there’s a possibility for anything.

I had a 5 x 7" Olive Thomas years ago...turned out to be secretarial.

James Murray....a real rarity as well!  Is it a signed photo? .

Yeah, most Olive’s are rubber stamped. My James Murray is a page from a 1930’s autograph book that has a notation of the date and a boxing match where it was signed in 1931.

Also have a Karl Dane that’s pretty rare.

Do you have a pic. of the Murray to post?  Would love to see it.  Such a tragic guy...as was Karl Dane.
