Hi

i have a lot of autographs to go through to value. We are talking in like up to 60. What can I do to get them valued ? Would anyone be willing to help out if I gave a list ? Please PM me and I will send it over. Just want a rough idea.

Thanks

Robin

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your help. I may need to spend to get them authenticated. Not what I wanted to do really but thank you nevertheless, I think some I may be able to sell without too much issue as they are like OPX, for example. I’m not desperate to sell, at the moment, I’m more interested in value.

Rob

Well, how did you figure out what to spend in the first place? Kind of the same thing in reverse now.

Thanks Eric - you’ve been a real help to me. It may not be as simple as that as some autographs I’ve had for a while now so it’s possible they may be the same value or gained as some of the autographs I have are celebrities who are no longer with us or gone up as a general rule.

I think what I am going to do is go through them and see what receipts I can find, try and get a good idea on value and go from there. Then I might be able to make plans, albeit provisionally, to consider selling my collection. I have a feeling though it’s going to be tougher than that.

Hi Robin,

You are very welcome. I wish there were a simpler answer. Authenticity first.

Thanks Eric :)

Robin, I would post the autographs you are uncertain of on the "Is this autograph real?" on here.   That would give you opinions from members here.

Thanks I’ll do the ones I’m j sure about maybe first.

The first thing you need to decide is why you need an evaluation.  Now, most will require an appraisal if it is for insurance purposes. On the other hand, if you are just curious, no appraisal would be necessary.   If you want to sell and are not sure what price to set, then checking the sold auctions would make sense, as Steve said.  Eric is right you need to determine the authenticity first.   Autographs go up and down in value, so any appraisal today might be meaningless tomorrow.  I would never realize half of what I have spent on autographs over the years.   I do not go on vacations, go to movies or eat out so autographs are my entertainment at least that is what I say to justify it.

Thanks Scott great response. I might just do one at a time, even if it takes a few months.

I was just about to say split them by category and post 4 or 6 in the right categories per month for review here. Scott beat me to it! :-)

Thanks :)

Sure. Are these the items in your photograph on your page? I see some problems there.
