What do you think. Super provenance but wondering if could be secretarial.

Laugh all you want. You get nowhere.

Even though it is likely to be secretarial, it's still a great item i.m.o. because of the association.

I am still thinking about making an offer for it. You would need to be a Brit to understand that, maybe.

Great thread, this; though - I have learned a lot.

It is an interesting piece if only with the Hockney connection. In fact, Hockney and I use the same handmade paint - Michael Harding!

Yes (there are more examples of other contributors), bit of a cause celebre.

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to respond to this - appreciate you all!

I am book marking this page for AW and promise not to post about his signature again. Until the next time, that is.

Have sent a friend request to Richard Booth, just in case.

If I can find the post about my own Warhol I believe the member sought might be there.

I did. Yes, Richard Booth.

This was my 1976 w Mapplethorpe 1980 PC:

Yeah, that's pretty much how I would expect his sig to be like, or the initials version which came later.

I thought initially about my example that, perhaps, he was being deliberately deliberate for the purposes of a charitable donation.

Or high, lol!

I was misled by your responding to me - I did not make the comment you are referring to. My mistake.

Hi Eric and Findbooks. Although it is not common for Andy to signed with block letters, I feel that it is good and has characteristics of other block letters I have seen him write. He did vary his signature over time depending on the signing situation, but I would be 90% convince the initial photo of the signature is authentic.

Thank you Richard. That is why I held out for your opinion. A lot of good characteristics.

Can you comment on the additional text? That is what threw me off the right path.

Thank you Richard, that's great to know for our common education,

I was taken with the background story although there was no supporting documentation. I subsequently learned that David Hockney physically handed Warhol the piece and demanded his signature. But all heresay without paperwork of some description. That might have been obtainable from the auctioneer, I guess, but it's water under the bridge now.
