What does it mean, that quote?
Oh, I assumed it was paraphrasing the Hymn "His Eye is on the Sparrow."
It might be. there was also a 1975 song by Ethel Waters that Marshall might have been thinking of.
Yes, that is the Hymn that Ethel Waters sang for years. It was the title of her book too. Tennessee Ernie Ford used to sing it too. I suspect Marshall encountered it as a boy in church.
Indeed - the song might have refreshed his memory. All these "little" things are so very interesting.
Also, the sure quality of the "W" in the OP, and the height of it's second vertical in relation to other things...
There is certainly similarities I think the "t" in best is probably the one I notice here but did not before the comparison. There are just so many things about this particular one that are atypical or gives me pause. I am the first to admit I am no William Marshall expert, but if I saw this for auction I would pass. Having said that I would pass on the Star Trek card too although he did seem to sign those differently. I thought I had one but apparently, I didn't because I do not find it on my list. I am surprised because I remember seeing those a few years ago when the price was reasonable. What is your take on this? If he used a secretary (and I do not think he did) I would lean that way.
PREPRINT!
Wow that is unexpected. Have you found another? A lot of times pre-prints go into the margins. I think I posted a Richard Benjamin that is a real oddity in preprints.
That is really something. I did not see that one coming lol.
