Thoughts on this James Stewart? I won it on a lowball bid so I thought it was worth a gamble.

It seems like it could be authentic, but a bit weird. Or a pretty decent fake. The cons are it is kinda crunched up and the "mes" is a little odd. However, slant and general formation are decent, plus it was signed quickly and does not have the atypical "smoothness" the fakes usually have.

It's funny, I knew where this came from before I knew anything about it. The seller gerryzu has been selling a few+ of these a month for maybe a year at starting bids of like $4.99. I was skeptical of the first one and ruled them out as fakes as they kept coming in and looking fairly similar. I'm sure you can find a few in his completed listings and a couple currently selling.

I'd ask for a refund.

I saw he had a few and they had a similar look. Not necessarily a big issue if he obtained s handful around the same time. However, I did not know he had that many going that far back.

If it is fake, it's pretty darn good. Definately a cut above the typical ebay tripe.

Well, the seller started off saying he had "some" autographs signed by James Stewart and would be selling them in the coming weeks. As the months have rolled by, he says he has "a lot" and will continue to sell them in the coming weeks--all starting at $4.99 and nearly all of them going for less than an authentic would. I'm not a big fan of the signatures.

A cut above the typical eBay tripe, you mean like this:

And dang, I do see a lot of junk in completed listings, but two or three things I'd like to have added to my collection as well.

LOL. Yes, that is the usual eBay tripe.

The seller responded back that the signature is 100% real, but he will issue me a refund. I value your input and I am leaning not good, but not sure.

I am going to run it by someone else and report back. :-)

UPDATE: I returned this Stewart SP for a refund.

Bill White at RR opined that he didn't like it. Bill noted that it captures "the essence" of Stewart, but it is atypical enough to avoid.

The seller insisted it was authentic, but he continues to sell more Stewart SPs with the same slightly atypical look.
