Michael Jackson Signed Fedora, genuine?

Hello to all,

I´m new here and hope you can give me some help. I bought this Fedora and i´m not sure about it´s authenticy. The seller get it in 1997 in a concert in germany and in 2004 he went to another event and get his autograph.

Rare and signed means - genuine

LLC - likely not genuine

PSA - likely not genuine

and now i´m waiting for "did they sign it" opinion

In my opinion, it seems genuine, also because the Fedora features underside Gold Tag - Made in USA WPL-5923

MJ used them in concerts and throw them to the fans.

I definetly am not being a cynic, but who would take a genuine hat and make a fake sig on it? Michael Bush. He just finished doing that with hundreds of items in the Julian auction. If a forger thought he could get more money out of an item if signed, then you better believe they will slap a sign on it. Ive seen many important valuable pieces of memorabilia ruined by fake signatures. It just has to do with how much they can get out of it. I cant comment on the MJ signature. Roger will definetly be the guy who can tell you though. If he says good, then you can pretty much take it to the bank.

But a hat or other such item where a shaky or unusual signature can be explained b/c of the item itself, is a perfect target for forgers. So its really hard to tell sometimes. I read the sellers story and its no different from the countless other forgers out their. But that certainly is not saying that its fake, just that i wouldnt put two cents worth into the story. And a forger would try many times before putting it on the hat, if he was experienced at all. Not only that, but when looking at the hat, the signature would actually be quite easy to fake. These are just a few things to consider. But the hat may be a great authentic piece, you just never know. Forgers are clever.

I hope it turns out good for you, but please dont think someone wont screw up an important item with a fake signature. Another great example is the Thriller Jacket sold for 1.8 million i think. From what ive heard, its likely that was a Michael Bush as well. But we all know by now that Bush scribbled Michaels name on tons of amazing historic pieces. And you have to ask yourself, why would he do it? Its not like it really should affect bidding that much. If they are real the real pieces then they should go for near just as much as an autographed piece. If someone is going to spend 1 million dollars on a jacket, i sincerely doubt that the autograph plays much part at all in the deal. So you just cant tell with the crooks out their, they will do anything.

I didnt knew the Julian Auction Story. Wow, thats unbelievable.
Yes, im with you, i would tell the same story about the hat, you only need to know a bit about where Michael was in what year.
I wrote to Roger yesterday, maybe i should make the 15,00 payment?

Yeah the Julians auction story is nuts. Their is a huge thread on it on this site. If you do a forum search youll find it. Just type in Julians and forgery and you will see. The thread presents undeniable evidence the items sold that were autographed, were pretty much all signed by Michael Bush, their desiger. The handwriting is blatantly obviously the same as Bush's. 

Both Julians and Bush are now up sh#ts creek now b/c of this. Because of this website getting the word out their, it even made the news, and buyers were urged to get their items checked out. Julians said they would honor returns if anyone wanted them, but they are lying. They arent responding to anyone wanting to return their items. It really is shocking. It certainly is worth the read.

You may want to make the payment as Roger gives free opinions here but its more of an every now and then thing i think. If your really interested, id pay the fee. If he says good, then your in good shape. I wish you the best

I am confident the signature is fake. You can't even compare with the other signed fedora which is 10000% genuine. It was signed to dieter weisner, a good friend of his from Germany. Just compare the pen pressure in both signatures. It almost looks as though the forger was trying to make a very poor attempt in duplicating the signature from the real signed fedora. I am sure roger will say it is not even close to being genuine.

Hello

I don't believe the signature on the hat is authentic.  It is much harder making a opinion call on something like a hat as it is not s stable surfaice to sign on; however there too many things wrong with this.  Look at the the way he spelled Michael> it appears to be signed "Miich" it is also signed much too slow.

did you compare it to the other dedicated hat? and to the autographsale.net?

He signed it at home with time and the autograph is very big, don´t know if its easy to sign quick.

For me it is no problem, i can send it back, it was bought at ebay and paid with paypal.

But it seemed to me genuine.

Are you sure?

on this one and most autographs on thesignature library the i seems to be more than once, on most there is no h defined but on this i mean to see two i and the h too

I will not compare anymore autographs, i have 3 opinion with "not genuine" and waiting for another opinion. I will send it back and forget it. Many thanks to all. Roger, when you can, please send me the mail. I think you´re right, the double ii does not look good.
