Roger Clemens, Oops, Roger Craig JSA Autographed Baseball

This is an interesting one.  This is not an issue of authenticity, as the ball is genuine. But it is not Roger Clemens, as advertised, it is actually Roger Craig.

Who's error is this?   I put the number on the JSA cert in the database and nothing comes up.

According to the JSA site, it may take several weeks for items to get into the database.

This seller bulk lists items and sometimes does not appear to have an intimate knowledge of signatures. It would not surprise me if it was a listing error.

I would not be surprised either way. JSA could have mis-identified it.

Checking it today, the item comes up as a Roger Craig signature. Someone is going to be upset when they realize they paid $51 for Roger Craig!

so then JSA did authenticate properly, and it originally was a listing error?

I've bought from this seller several times and would be surprised if this was an intentional deception attempt. It's certainly a goof-up on someone's part though, nice catch terrier.

no question the seller is solid.  I am curious, though, as to whether this is an innocent listing error, or an authentication error.  I mean, who would pay to have a Roger Craig ball authenticated?  there are a few JSA'd Craig items on ebay, but the demand for Clemens is much higher.

Even scarier would be if JSA actually did authenticate this as a "Roger Clemens" ball... It is nowhere close to his sig.

I notice at the bottom of each listing is "posted by X" or just a name. In this case it's "postedbyjohnny". So maybe the listing helper made the mistake.

I know what you're saying about having a Roger Craig certed, but I've seen a lot lesser names have it done too.

Guess we'll find out when it shows in the database.
