Michael Jackson Signing Styles in Julien's Tompkins and Bush Sale
On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.
Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.
Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

I don't know if this has been used as a sample or looked at, but I find these signed shoes interesting, as it has a Bush signature on a letter of authenticity. And look at the autograph of Michael on the shoes. Just adds more fuel to the fire.

Prashant, those Michael Jackson autographs look genuine to me, particularly the left shoe. I'd want Roger to see them to make sure they're legit, but I'd be surprised if he didn't think so, too.
Why do they look so different than the Tompkins & Bush autographs we know about that Julien's sold?

Seems Michael DID give them one pair, but some one got greedy and started helping themselves, i still maintain as KF confirmed, bush was left the iconic costumes for safe keeping only, he was not the owner of them

Who has called those signed loafers you uploaded fake? That image is too small to authenticate from—at least for me to. The autographs are uncharacteristically long, like the Thriller jacket type, but I see some genuine characteristics along with the atypical ones. I'm not comfortable with them, but they're signed on the side of a shoe. I'd hope no one would make a decision on these without large, clear images.

I dont feel they are authentic, they are very similar to the thriller jacket sig, and too many bumps, but over to you, will wait for you to let me know

Just catching up here. I tend to agree that the example from the auction Prashant posted look likely real.. at least the left shoe signature part. (Anytime I see Bush's name first, I get leery). Still. Overall looks alright. Writing (such as "Bush" "Dennis") comparable to :
TeamMichael, I saw those silver pen signed shoes in one of juliens previous auction catalogs. I had left it as a question mark, as I wished to have seen larger images. But you make a great point about the Thriller jacket style signature. I can see some of those characteristics, the stretched out sig and possible smooshed K in Jackson. Also see what appear to be some genuine flow, shapes and form though, so still a question mark for me..
I agree with you, MJ signed a few things for them. Someone's greed turned those legit few into the fraudulent many.

Page 174 from Bush's 'Dressing Michael Jackson' book. Sketch is dated 2009. Here's Bush's story (Page 177 in his book) :Without getting into too much, Bush is claiming to have shoved this in MJ's face to sign "after rehearsal on June 25, 2009". Which would conveniently make it one of, if not THE last signature MJ gave. This makes me LIVID,, makes my head all but EXPLODE in rage because by ALL accounts including Bush's OWN, Michael Jackson was seriously ill (his entire body toxified, being incrementally Propofol poisoned). By ALL accounts he was in need of immediate medical care, body chills with several layers of clothing in summertime, mental confusion - could not remember left from right, needed to be carried up stairs. Still nobody did anything. No one got the man to a hospital. Uh! Rage.
So it's in THIS acknowledged physical and mental state in which T&B still decided to shove this under Michael Jackson's face to be signed just before he left the rehearsal arena?? And Bush is so proud of that behavior of "friendship" to MJ on his part that he showcases it in his blood money book. "Michael signed Dennis's sketch.... FOR ME". What a narcissistic, self-serving F***. So instead of getting MJ to a hospital, he's forcing an autograph?! Did he know Michael's signature was about to increase in value several times over?? $$$$$$
If MJ indeed signed it... and on June 25, 2009, the reason it could look jittery and unusual is because Michael's poor brain was soaking in Propofol poison. :((
