On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

Exactly.  BTW, the double L was discovered by our own steadfast moderator and fighter against all autograph forgeries within the collectors community, Steve Cyrkin.  :))

Charlotte!  I am grateful you are on the side of justice.  Doggone girl!  Your "Jackson" isn't half bad. Or maybe that is b/c we have seen such a flood of fakes on the market, similar to this style (I've seen many on eBay over the past 3 years)...

Either way, it underscores yet again the prevailing question of just HOW darren and co. could have "missed" seeing hundreds of radically bad forgeries, looking NADDA like MJ.

yep, thanks for the compliment. i do think we have seen so many before we even realized it. I know there are some I used to think were good and I go back and look now and have doubts. Like I said if you try doing his signature yourself you will see traits of how forgeries look. you may recognize others by things that you do yourself. Even though mine was on card board it wasnt as smooth flowing as Michael's I dont think, but then Ive seen Michael's look a little rougher also, but not knowing where and when and the story behind an autograph leaves so much more open to speculation.

He's justifying the fakes in the T&B collection by the earlier auctions, so what's his excuse for accepting the first ones?? Shame one can't trust a word out of his mouth, otherwise it would be worthwhile to ask about provenance...

You said it, Helen.  What IS he excuse?  And where was all of that world class thorough diligence that his customers,, his clients,, oh wait - his "family" were marketed into believing in?

If you refer back a few pages to my post regarding this Tompkins sketch, which Bush claims was signed by MJ on June 25, 2009....

Then look at this example sold by Julien's in their June 24, 2010 Music Icons auction -  Lot 379, supposed to be signed by Michael Jackson just ONE DAY prior on June 24, 2009.

Handwriting doesn't change that much overnight.

Actually I'd like to know who drew the sketch.  That isn't Dennis Tompkins sig running up the leg.  I just got my book today (interesting I must say)...  I had a bunch of free Amazon points and burned em up.

EDIT:   DeArmond drew the sketch (there are a few in the auction).  Now I'll go find out who THAT is, since he claims Dennis drew it in the book.

Ok I found that she is Lois DeArmond, and she is an illustrator.

omg, Jerk Bush doesn't even know the sketches are NOT by Dennis,

I know right.  His lies keep mounding up on him.

What do you mean signed on June 25th? That is the day of his passing- he never woke up on the 25th. The autograph above dated June 24 would have been at rehearsals before going home. That is the last time any autograph could have been signed.
