Hello guys,

So I was checking out some of the prices for autographs on some athletes who are Steiner exclusive. And honestly, I feel like the prices are generally extremely high. I might be crazy, but what are your thoughts? Also, are they trustable?

Thanks!

You can trust them 10000000000%. They're overpriced because I believe EVERYTHING they have was signed in person. You're paying for exactly what you get/want and there are no question marks surrounding it.

So let's say they are asking around 400$ for an autographed baseball. This would be considered expensive but 100% authentic?

Yep!

So let's say I want this :

But i'm hesitating because of this :

I should go with the sure thing from Steiner?

I've never heard of sure shot so I'm not certain if they're good. I'm also not familiar with Pedroia's signature but would be 100% comfortable buying from Steiner. I would however recommend maybe buying it off eBay with a PSA/JSA or even Steiner cert. Are you looking specifically at the World Series ball with the "Boston Strong" inscription? If not, something like this could save you a lot of money:

This one also seems like a great deal (as it is signed AND game used), but you should ask the seller to prove it is Steiner certified before you buy it:

Actually, I was looking to get a personalised message on the ball, but then was told that what IO wanted would cost me 130$ more (one inscription = 65$) So now I am looking at what they are offering in stock.

Comes from Mounted Memories who is quite reputable too and conduct private signings.

not to sound harsh Mike but spending that kind of money for a modern day player is moronic AND Foolhardy. HOF players don't go for that. Mickey Mantle, the most collected player of all times doesn't go for that. Pedroia has a few good years under his belt and is an injury risk every year. My bet is NO HALL for him. so 249-400 is just PLAIN STUPID, IMHO. save your money fella....

I totally agree, I wouldn't spend anywhere near that much. I'd probably want Pedroia for under 50 and I'm sure I could find it. Look at my last post in this discussion replying to Mike Shepherd. However, if someone is not too big of a collector and just buys something nice wants a few years (and has the money to do so) I don't see much harm in buying something that is guaranteed authentic. Barring unforeseen events, I don't see a Pedroia Steiner ball reselling for more than $100.

I'm sure that part of it is them cashing in on the excitement of a recent WS win.  This is a pretty bad time to be buying this type of memorabilia if you're looking for a good deal.

Mike hit the sweet spot. Not a guy who wants a real big collection. More like a sucker who lives in eastern Canada and wanted a personalised Pedroia signing. I understand that i'll never be able to resell it, but to me, hall of fame or not, I really find the guy inspiring. This is rather more an item that will stay close to me for as long as I live, so like I said before, I don't mind the price. Again, probably will never spend on a baseball autograph after that again. I have music oriented autographs, but those were bought dirt cheap and probably worth nothing (Ska bands aren't what they used to be). The only thing I wanted to make sure was that it was 100% legit. Got scammed before and looking to never have to spend again :)

And really, I know I am gonna sound stupid, but to me, a Mantle card is worth nothing. That's basically because I have no sentimental attachment to such an autograph. So I guess i'm a sucker :)

Go for it Gabriel.  You will not regret it.
