This is coming from someone who knows zero about Warhol's signature or signing habits, but I'd be absolutely blown away if this was authentic.  May I ask who's selling it?

I do know somewhat Warhol artifacts that is why I am asking some off wall item.

This is being sold thru Heritage Auction House.

Again, I now nothing about Warhol.  But it just immediately strikes me as being incredibly unlikely, especially when you consider when he died and what autograph collecting was like up to that point.

I agree absolutely.

For something like this, I'd want provenance up to wazoo.  Fittingly, they seem to have none.

This is not the first time that Heritage Auction have a questionable guitar for sale. And probably not the last.

I have a few Warhol signatures, but have never seen one on a guitar before. That said, this one looks a bit odd to me and I have doubts about it.

HA has a fake Nirvana signed guitar by all 3 members of the band on a 2012 Epiphone Les Paul100 guitar in their auction recently.

Does not look real.

I have about 29 signed Warhol items, and they vary depending on year and circumstance of signing. The A in Andy doesn't look right to me.
It appears to me to be an artistically rendered version of Warhol's signature that was added as part of the guitar's design along with the VU banana. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the guitar was manufactured after 1987.

Very interesting. Thanks for contacting him and posting the update.
