I’ve been really fortunate recently to have added some new books to my Blues collection. These books contain autographs from over 100 different musicians (nearly all being signed around the mid to late 1990’s, some signing more than once).The signatures are pretty diverse for the field, including old and young, well know and obscure, established and upcoming, folk blues and hard electric blues, but all these people, in their own way, are/were keeping the music alive (I say ‘were’ as to my reckoning about half of those who signed have now passed away).It’s been great flicking through these books and expanding my limited knowledge of the Blues. Some of the autographs were a pleasant surprise to see, whereas others I thought or hoped might be there were not (for example the Fat Possum artists were, sadly, severely lacking, except for R L Burnside). Some of the signatures took a fair while to decipher, though most were easy as they were signed next to images/biographies and/or are fairly well known. I realise one says 'R L Burnside' but it is not the same as the actual 'R L Burnside' autograph above it (which I think is the 'right' one) and I also have no idea who the one who has signed with a '$' is, can anyone help?And finally - I have no idea who this scribble is. Any help with be much appreciated:

I think the second RL Burnside is possibly someone writing under the autograph to let you know who the actual autograph is by, maybe the autograph hunter themselves. Pity they didn't do the same for the ones you cant decipher. Or the dollar sign musician is part of RL 's band and signed 'RL Burnside' before his own signiture to indicate he was in the band?
Could the dollar sign be Bill Perry? It doesn't look like his autograph (the ones i could find on line, but perhaps it was just a joke (Bill=$)

Hi Micko - Thanks for reply. I reckon your call on maybe the $ signer being part of R Ls group could be good. I also really like the idea that it could be bill perry and he used the $ for bill, that would be so great if it is right.
Carl - thanks for 'wow', not sure if the rest of your posting got cut short?
Any other thoughts from anyone (maybe on the scribble?).

Another possibility for the '$' autograph is an artist called Si Perry. I know next to nothing about him except that on the date the autograph was made (5th August 2005) there was a Si Perry playing at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival (which ran from the 4-6 August), which also had on the bill a number of the other artists who signed this page (Lonnie Pitchford, Jack Owens, Bud Spires and Eugene Powell) though strangly enough no RL Burnside (though he could have been there as it was held in his stomping ground of Mississippi). I can't find another example for him so I cannot say one way or other.

JSA... but I have a feeling that LOA is a fake. I've only seen that situation where the letter and number don't line up on forged certificates. You may want to contact JSA to verify (SpenceLOA.com).
