Is this Manchester United shirt real or fake
Hi,
Could anyone give an opinion on this Manchester United shirt? I bought it couple of weeks ago from E Bay as a present but so far has been unable to find someone willing to authenticate it.

2 concerns for me red and black sigs!! and you can read the sigs which may sound daft they are to neat imo was it bought from private seller ?

Yes, it was. They offered a refund if proven fake but there is not one place that would agree to put it down in writing.

hope you never payed that price , get a refund!! can buy a one from any recommended dealer for half that price and it looks like john aston sig on it who left the club in the early 70s

I would get a refund but i have to have something proving it's not genuine. Unfortunately i don't as no one would risk writing it down for me.

Yep; I have been experiencing the very same thing. Really experienced & known dealers are frightened & don't really want to be named as soon as you say its a football item that needs examing because they have been threatened so much when they have tried to expose forgeries especially in football. Take it to a reputable auction house & ask them to have a look at it altho they usually charge but they won't name the indivual who signs it. If you can't do chargeback & you have paid a lot, try the small claims court; - and assuming you have this evidence you will probably win altho you have to pay either £30 - 50 to the court so it is not as stated free. If the seller is buzy doing frauds he won't bother turning up to rest his case. It is terribly stressful though but don't give up because he has stated that he would give a refund if proved non genuine altho this may be a ploy; - but be wary of spending more on costs /letters etc than what you paid for it but that is a lot of money to spend on a fake shirt. The threat of a small claims even if you haven't got a letter may do enough to get a refund because he certainly won't want to appear in court if he knows his stuff is fake & he looks a small time dealer. Hope this helps but it is certainly stressful

don't think you have to prove anything , ask them how they obtained the sigs ? report it to ebay saying you have concerns , how did you pay credit card or paypay can you not stop payment

I bought it privately from them outside of e bay so there really isn't much i can do. Even if it was on E Bay they still ask you to prove that it's not genuine, it happened to me with another item. I guess i'll have to put it down as a you live and learn experience.

Yes, it was with Pay Pal but as friends transfer so i'm not getting anything back if that's what you mean. The seller has been in touch though and insists it's genuine. They'd give a refund if proven a fake which i can't do.

Some of the signatures look as if the same person signed them. Especially the signature in black pictured here in the middle and the one in black pictured in the lower right corner.
One course of action to have some "paperwork" to prove its legitimacy is to get a PSA Quick Opinion on it. It is only $10. What you do is put up to the jersey with all possible scans for auction on eBay, and once the quick opinion is received, you take down the listing.
