Star Wars Collectors Unite!

I have been collecting Star Wars autographs since 1998. Not all of my signatures are on Star Wars memorabilia. For example, when I met Warwick Davis at a comic convention in New York City, I had him sign a Willow photograph. I also have publicity photos of Sir Alec Guinness and Christopher Lee from the 1970s, and a Natalie Portman signed The Diary of Anne Frank theater poster from her performance on Broadway back in 1998. My current wish list includes Peter Cushing, Terence Stamp and John Williams. I am interested in knowing about the collections and wish lists of other members.

Thanks. Mine is signed in very fine gold and it is not as bold as I would like it to be. The ink appeared to be running low when he signed it. It is still a favorite piece of my Star Wars collection.

I own a few really scary inperson rushed Lucas signatures, and a few where the crowd was slamming & pushing, but that one ... I am at a loss for words.

The vast majority of Alec's autographs out there are signed in fountain pen, ball point or extra- fine point felt markers and paint pens. This one looks to have been signed with a more modern fine point felt tip/sharpie type pen. It leaves the A and the G a bit more rounded and compresses the ink in the "nness" section of his name making it seem different or look off a bit.

The flow of the signature, the formation of the letters and the placement of his flourishes, (the dots and the underline) I would say it is very real.... just not too common to see him sign with that type of pen.

PSA is the only option for SW fans, however unless you arrange for Steve Grad to see the piece ahead of sending it in, don't bother.

GAI, GA , JSA and even the remainder of the staff at PSA DNA are a lost cause when it comes to Star Wars graphs. I have known and even competed with Steve for years on rare SW names, and he has a good grasp on SW stuff. Zack is also a SW collector but I don't know him well enough to speak up about him as an authenticator of SW autographs.

If you have checked out the samples later in this thread, you will see that the A and G are spot on, and the placement of the dots and underline are just fine, the formation of the remainder of the letters all work. I really believe that it is the pen type that caused him to stretch the signature a bit.

I'd say be happy with your Guinness or sell it to me. Hahahhaha
