I recently joined here and am fairly new to autograph collecting. Yesterday i posted a link to a Bruce Springsteen on Ebay and had many of you tell me it was fake (thanks!) One of the members here, Jarrod, messaged me tonight and offered me several of his Bruce Springsteen autographs. I asked him if he minded if I put it out there for everyone's opinion and he said that was fine. So, here are the ones I like best from what he sent me. Also, he told me to offer him a price. I see them going from one end of the spectrum to the next as far as price on Ebay, and now I don't know what's real or fake, so please, also, help me with value of something like this? Thanks SO much.

I fully understand Jarrod´s request not to show them. It´s simply about respect (I would not like if anyone would use pictures of my signatures without my knowledge and I´m not seller) - maybe if you would ask his friend through Jarrod that you need to consult these signatures on AML  before buying them, then it would be completely ok. I think that his friend would probably agree then. It would become suspicious and I would NOT buy them in situation when he would not agree with this request - then I would become very hesitating. But if Jarrod asked you not to show these autographs anywhere because they are NOT his own, it´s nothing really suspicious.

I understand this and my initial question here was to get people's opinions on the ones he sent me that he said were his. No one responded.

When BruceJuice finally responded, I responded to him and Jarrod came on very upset. If you read the dialogue between us, you will see I meant no harm and said so several times. I was just seeking other opinions, which I still haven't received! I had asked Jared which ones had the COAs and asked to see them and he never sent the copies of the COAs. I really am a very nice person and wanted no conflict. I am dumbfounded. I never called Jarrod a "horrible" person and never accused him of selling fakes, either, i just said it was the opinion of my friend and also that some people DO do that on sites like this. I don't know Jarrod and certainly wasn't going to be a fool and buy from him on the sly without asking questions here first. I thought that's what this place was for!

I will say no more like Wascher asked me to and wait to hear from Steve.

Lori the way I read his email he did not want them posted because they were not his to sell. That does not make Jarrod a bad person

As I mentioned to you in chat I am not going to stay on the thread to moderate it, I have already spent too many minutes on my phone trying to sort through what was all said, so that you would be assured it was seen. Steve will be in to help.

I think a deep breath from all sides is needed. Hopefully no real harm has been done or offence caused to Jarrod by posting those images. Lori, this is definitely the place to ask for opinions but sometimes it may take a few days to get a response or a few so don't always worry if you near nothing for a couple of days.

I am sure you can both move on from this and continue to post and add vital information and opinions in the future and most of all enjoy the autograph hobby.

Lori T,

It's OK to be cautious of people. It's not OK to make statements that could damage someone's reputation unless you're absolutely positive what you're saying is true. I didn't see anything in what Jarrod said here or in the email you posted that told me he did anything wrong.

I removed the images Jarrod told Lori T not to post, but I saved copies of them. I'll ask for opinions when I get a chance and post the results.

You were concerned that no one responded for a while. You only posted this discussion yesterday. Members respond to what they're interested in and have time for. Sometimes members respond quickly, sometimes it takes a day or two, and sometimes not at all. That's the nature of communities.

You're new here and new to collecting, and it's not easy to figure out how to collect safely, so I understand why you might be especially sensitive to fraud. That's good..that's the way to be! Just be careful not to damage the reputation of good people in the process.

Jarrod,

Realize that whenever you email someone you don't know offering them autographs, the party you email should naturally be suspicious. It's common for forgery sellers to do that. Since you're not a newbie to the hobby, you should have been aware of that, so you have responsibility here, too. Think about how people might interpret what you're doing before you act.

Thanks, Steve. I understand. I certainly was not trying to damage anyone's reputation and only made statements about an outside opinion I was given. I apologize that it came off sounding that way. I wasn't even going to openly bring up the "other" email Jarrod sent me with those 5 questionable pieces you removed, until Jarrod said I wasn't "telling the whole story", so I just stated the facts and said over and over I was asking, not accusing!

People responded so quickly on my question about the other Bruce I posted on another thread so I thought Perhaps people were hesitant to post here because Jarrod is part of the community. I'll guess I'll never know if any of those were genuine or not! I completely understand what you are saying about patience, though, some threads seem to be answered within minutes and others not at all. I'm learning!

What's frustrating is I went through all of this and still didn't get any opinions on the ones I was interested in, other than 1 opinion from BruceJuice for Jarrod to send better scans! I will still wonder what people thought of those plus the other ones that were removed. I'll find myself a good Bruce one day, though, hopefully with everyone's help here again. I have learned quickly from here to ask questions and to be wary.

I openly apologize to anyone who took offense to what I said here. It seemed quite mild in comparison to some of the responses on my other Bruce thread regarding the ebay guy who was trying to rip me off. I am here to enjoy the hobby of collecting and certainly never wanted or expected to get into a disagreement with anyone.

Thanks again for all your help, my Beatles arrived today and I wouldn't have bought it without the opinions of many of you here, so thank you! And thanks again for helping me avoid being ripped off by the ebay guy. And thanks again, Steve.

Sincerely,

Lori

Thanks Steve for the advice I'll take it on board. Thanks to Wascher as well for her great input. To the people that messaged me with your suppot I also thank you to. As I have stated in the past I have no doubt in mine or my friends items.

I have not and will not ever try to sell anyone knowingly not genuine items period! For those who do know me I can only hope that my friendship and reputation are enough for you to move past this thread.

As for sending emails to people I have taken Steves advice. I am also aware that several people do this practice to see if other members are interested in other people items. I still look forward to communicating to several of you in this way.

As for sending pictures please feel free as I will try to give you an opinion where I can however from now on I will only be sending my items given the way this has panned out....

I also will never put your private message up for display or images you sent me without consultation of the moderators of this board as this may also breach copyright in certain circumstances.

To those who have shown interest in my items please hold tight as I just want the dust to settle. You can also rest assured as I will always give a 100 percent guarantee that if any item I have sold is found to be not genuine by an agreed person I will give you your money back.

Once again Id like to thank all of the Moderators, members of this great site and community for their input and advice.

Thanks
Jarrod

Lori T, Jarrod...Great! We're all friends again! Glad this settled. Lessons for us all.
