Like many of you I see forgeries on ebay all the time. Ones that I know 100% are not legit. What frustrates me is Ebay will not pull them even after reporting them. Several items I have asked my buddies to also report the same items. Does anyone know the policy on how/what they pull off the site. I turned a Mickey Mantle in a few days ago. Get this it was even spelled wrong. MICKY MANTEL. Ebay wouldn't pull it. How bad does something have to be before they take them down. I feel like someone screaming down an empty well. No one hears me. Does this happen to anyone else?

it happens to everyone.  I dont even bother reporting, its a waste of time

It is a waste of time. The fact is ebay will not remove forgeries after being reported because the fake autographs make ebay TONS of money. The only time I've ever seen them remove an item is when it's something they believe could bring them bad press. Ebay knows about the scams GFA & GA are doing. They have been educated on them, but refuse to ban them. Instead, they allow their customers to be ripped off in order to keep making money off forgeries.

Does eBay remove items after items fail PSA/DNA Quick Opinions? I thought I read that somewhere but could be mistaken.

No, they do not. They also won't remove an item even if an Upper Deck rep notifies them of a forgery. Ebay scammer c-shark was selling a forged LeBron James rookie card that he listed as an 'Upper Deck buy back' which came with a fake Seal of Authenticity. I contacted Upper Deck and they right away said it was not their product and thanked me. They then contacted ebay letting them know they wanted the auction pulled. Five days later, the card sold for several hundred dollars on ebay.

Has the policy changed? In the past, eBay removed items that failed PSA Quick Opinion. This is no longer the case?
I've seen ebay pull Beatles autographs but than leave other beatles forged item on ebay.So go figure.

Barking up the wrong tree. eBay doesn't care, why would they pull something that they are about to profit from? There are tons of fake purses/shoes/cards/jerseys on eBay, they could care less and simply do not have the staff to deal with it. They leave it up to the buyer to choose what they want to spend their money on.

With the elimination of the EMR program for autographs, eBay is worse than it has ever been. A cesspool of fakes further polluted by worthless rubber stamp COAs from supposed forensic experts.

Reporting bad items is a complete waste of time because nothing gets removed. It is truly caveat emptor... Do not rely on eBay to offer any form of protection against fakes -- no matter how obvious or pervasive.

The excuse that ebay doesn't have the staff to remove forgeries is a joke. I have first hand experience in reporting dozens of items to ebay over the phone and detailing to their customer service for 20-30 mins why a certain seller is a scammer. Once it was proven beyond a doubt what I was saying was true, ebay would thank me for looking out and rest assure that information will be passed down to the investigators in the fraud department. Then I'd watch the auctions/sellers in 'My Ebay' and no items are ever removed and the forgeries sell for big money.

Unfortunately like many of you have stated Ebay doesn't care and is making money hand over fist. With the auctions and now they own paypal so they get you on both ends. I just wish someone would take some legal action against them. The only way to get results is for something negative happen to ebay where their image is smeared. And I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

That is the only time I've seen ebay pull an item. Where the forgery is of someone so big in American culture that leaving it up would give them bad press. For example, the Al Capone signed baseball on a Charles Feeney that pulled last year after I reported it. After explaining to them how it was impossible and telling them the press would be very interested in spotlighting this rare gem, it magically ended within 10 minutes!
