I have a couple of signed Mccartney Beatles' LP' s that I am thinking of having framed; can anyone advise on the sorts of things that are important to consider - regarding protecting the item and how to best display these items

keep it out of sun direct sun light.   Use uv glass anti acid matting and loose fit inside the frame.

Paul is right about his framing suggestions... but when I display signed photographs, LPs, Lobby Cards, etc.... I frame a nicely done, professional color photocopy and keep the originals safely protected elsewhere. That way you can enjoy viewing your prized autographs and save a ton of money by choosing a cheaper frame, glass, mat, etc.  You'll rest easy knowing that your original is safe from the sunlight, fluorescents, sticky fingers, acid mats, etc. and no one will be any the wiser.  Just a thought for you.

Yup. I don't have many framed autographed in my home, but the handful I have are high resolution photographic copies. I scan the original at 400 dpi and then print it through Shutterfly. Under glass, no one knows it is not the original.
Really? What's the point in buying the real deal then? You could save a lot of money :-)

It wouldn't be the same to me if the real items weren't on the walls. There's plenty of safe ways to display autographs, museums and libraries do it for thousands of visitors everyday and they deal with much more valuable and historically important items.
I enjoy flipping through my binders of originals. I dunno... I just don't need the original on the wall to enjoy it. And it always caused me stress worrying if my stuff was being slowly damaged. Plus, it's easy to swap out the copies when I want to.
What do you use for binders? I'm looking for a good archival book for my 11x14s.
Nothing special. Just generic staples 3 ring binders with ultra pro sleeves.

For higher value photos, I use Mylar sleeves and archival photo boxes from Bags Unlimited.
Check out bags unlimited for mylars or photo presentation books for 11x14s. I have used them for years with good results for a wide array of storage materials.

Nice, will do, thanks Steve.

Just got this back from the framers today. Conservation glass 98 percent uv or water glass acid free matting and loose fitted

That is a remarkable piece. Signed by all four? Congratulations!
Just the 3 Chris. Paul Ringo John. Thanks
