I bought a JohnLennon autograph some years ago off a lady for £40 and she said her cousin worked in the Abbey Road studios, she had a list with photocopies of their autographs, he apparently got them to sign a few times. I was a bit suspicious after buying it, so I waited a few months and waited to see if she was still out there selling autographs, so I took a chance and bought a signed Pete Best color pic of the Decca sessions,it was done in pencil and having personally got an autograph off Pete I compared them and thought oh yeah the pic is genuinely signed. I took my Lennon one to TRACKS a couple of years ago, but he was very unsure of its authenticity, so he said he would ask an expert in the USA ,it came back as I thought they couldn't be sure if it was genuine ? What Im really saying is if the woman was still out there many months later and the signatures were forgeries surely she would have been tumbled soon enough.

I am not sure of this logic? If the lady was still selling autographs months later they have to be real?
i apologize but that makes no sense and sounds like someone trying to make an excuse. And little old ladies always seem to know someone when selling forgeries lol I don't think I have heard another story more from scammers in my life. While this one isnt little or old i have a feeling its coming
Unfortunately there are scores of people with bad autographs that have been working for years. There is really no policing other than sometimes eBay will close someone down. If they have their own private website then there is almost no stopping them. So the fact she may still be selling things is not really a good indicator of if the items she has are real or not. It sounds like at least you do not have a small fortune tied up in the autograph so that is good. If it were me I would scan it put it on here there are lots of very knowledgeable Beatles collectors here. I would let them take a look and get a judgement. I also think Mr. Epperson does a quick opinion that is very inexpensive. Although Tracks perhaps already had him look at it. I hope it will work out to be good. I hate when something is found to be uncertain because if it is bad no problem it goes into the flames but an uncertain is just in limbo.
Well if I could find her address I would write again and if she replied then I would know its genuine ? But it was 1984 when I bought the autograph, so maybe I should just let it lie.I never got her second name she just typed her first name.
Yes I will put it on here sometime.
