Anyone got in person experience with Robert Plant during his recent tours or other appearances? What is he like nowadays? Is he still signing Led Zeppelin items? Is he easy to approach or he's very fussy and grumpy? Thanks in advance for some feedback!

Saw him last year going in and out of a TV studio in NY.  Just me and another dude waiting by the stage door.  I had a solo LP and the other guy had his new solo CD.  Didnt even acknowledge us.

Was talking with an person pro guy the other day- very difficult now. Will pose for pictures, did sign a ticket stub after more badgering than it was worth.

He's definitely gotten tougher in the past decade or so. Still, there is no fixed pattern, he sometimes signs Zeppelin stuff and/or even does multiples, but mostly just signs solo stuff (often with added dedications).

Like others have already mentioned, there's also the chance he'll just flat out ignore you. If that happens, it's nothing personal, just variance.

he looks at everyone as a seller, not a fan, and it infuriates him.  This came directly from one of the members of his Band of Joy.

Unfortunately that's the way that the trend is going....if you ask for an autograph you must be selling it there is no other explanation on why you want it.

Yes and I heard John Fogerty feels the same way that people only want the autograph to sell it.  In a way I understand they feel deceived, but also why would they care?  They are worth millions, and if they signed a lot, it would get some of the ugly forgers to stop practicing.  Lets face it, the more a celeb signs, the less likely forgeries would flood the market since real autographs are readily in supply.  I dont get their thinking sometimes.

Steve, exactly , you're spot on here. Though look at Roger Waters. He signs literally thousands of autographs and still the market is full of forgeries and his sig is not a cheap one anyway... So there are exceptions if you are a REALLY huge star... I can't understand Robert Plant's approach though... Would he also refuse posing for photos? Or personalizing stuff? That way only the hardcore fans or people who are not into selling would be happy...

I dont know.  Since he didnt acknowledge my existence last year, I never got to ask him lol.

I've been fortunate to meet Robert several times and I've always had great encounters. Granted, I haven't tried in the last 3 years, but as recently as the Band of Joy tour he was still very pleasant. I think it all depends on the situation, but I have heard/read that he practically ignores all requests now. Like many of these HUGE legends, they know the deal and what their signature is worth, and they just choose not to engage with it anymore. It's frustrating because it's the fans & true collectors that get shut out.

Devon, did you meet any of the other members of Band of Joy when you met Robert? do you remember the bald guy that played drums?

Hi Terrier, I did meet and say hello to several members of the band but I don't specifically remember meeting the drummer. The only two that stick out are Buddy Miller and a guitar player with a beard.

So basically, no one had a successful encounter with Robert in the past year or so? I got him 4 years ago while he was touring with Band of Joy and got his solo "Pictures at Eleven" LP signed, although it was rather rushed signature... All I want now is to get one of my John Paul Jones signed Led Zep LPs autographed by Robert...
