I recently purchased this ET 9x4 Card. Do you think it is a preprinted signature or an authentic signature? when I look at it in the light the signature looks purplish. Also I don't think a preprinted signature would look this faded.

Hello Gio,

Preprint (or you just bought the exact one I was looking at).

A very minor bit of information is the lack of ay name, just "best wishes".

Best wishes,

                  Eric

Thanks a bunch, Eric. I had a strange feeling about it. I also found another identical example on google. There is also another version of this card where he has a film camera. Thanks.

Hi Gio,

I saw that too. Happy to help :)

Best wishes,

 Hello Gio,

I think thats printed-not hand signed. Im sure i have one of those in my collection that was a through the mail.

Good luck!

Robert

Thanks Robert,

I read that it was easier for Spielberg to send these pre-printed cards out due to his busy schedule.

Regards

Sorry to bring up an old thread but as strange as this sounds I collect preprints (as well as authentic autographs of course) and I have been hoping to get the preprints Steven Spielberg sent out through the mail. The problem is I don’t believe he sends these out anymore as I have tried writing him and have not received anything back ever within the last 15-20 years. I know buying one off eBay is a big rip off since many are selling these as either authentic or not being told they are printed so people bid them up to like $200. Occasionally there will be one where it sells for like $20 but I don’t feel like spending any real money on a preprint. I really don’t want to spend more than $5 on each one. I am also very curious if he sent out both the E.T. one and camera one at the same time, or if maybe the E.T. one was sent out first, then he switched to sending out just the camera one. I have seen two other rarer versions…one of just Spielberg and a COLOR version of the camera one but it’s a different photo of Spielberg with the camera (same signature though). So I would love a more detailed history about these.
