Hi all,
I have just joined and glad to be on board.
I am currently in the process of buying Elvis and his band signed 1956 and welcome your thoughts on authenticity.
Thanks
John

Hi John and welcome aboard.

I first saw this this item maybe 7 or 8 years ago. It was made available  on eBay from a seller in Germany. I wish I could remember the sellers name. I simply can't. But I do recall the guy had a lot of this kind of stuff including Everly brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Sun records  etc.

Some of his stuff I had issues with and I must tell you that I, and I'm only speaking for myself, was never one hundred per cent comfortable with some of  his items, including this one.

That certainly looks like Liberace's signature, and then there's "Thanks for asking"... Shecky Greene, the comedian who appeared with Elvis in Las Vegas in 1956. Freddy Martin was the orchestra leader for the Presley appearance at the New Frontier. And of course Elvis and his 3 backup musicians.

The Elvis signature has always been a problem for me, it's something that I just cannot get comfortable with. Combine that with the fact that it first appeared from the German seller and I made the decision to pass on it then. I'd probably do the same thing today. BUT that's just ME. I'm certainly looking forward to hearing other opinions on this.

Can I ask who the seller is in this instance ?? Just curious...

Hi Don and thanks for the feedback. The seller is Mark Saurin based in the UK.
Best regards
John

I'm not comfortable with it, and it doesn't have the characteristics I'm used to seeing on mid-1950s Elvis autographs.

Hi Steve, thanks for the feedback. Do you have any examples of 1950's signatures as you mentioned so I can understand your concern?
Cheers John

Hey John...F.Y.I. I see that your seller Mark is a long time member here!  He posted this item here last April looking to sell it. A sad turn of events as he stated he was losing his job. Sorry to hear that.

What is his selling price if I'm not being too bold??

Here's a link to my Elvis Presley autograph, signed in the late 50s at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas:

Please feel free to use that as comparison!

Nice nice item J.Cocgo!!

But you already knew that!! LOL !

And for you John if you can be patient and find an item that just screams  authentic you might be bettered served.

Unless I'm mistaken there are 3 categories  of Elvis that I'm aware of. And they are 1) outright bogus 2) questionable and 3) slam dunk authentic (see above).

Speaking strictly for myself...this is just me talking here....this item is no better than questionalble when it comes to the ELVIS signature. And assuming then that the Elvis signature is real...it's not the best of examples...certainly not a "classic" for the time period.

 Just my 2 pence.

Thanks Don! And yes, to be honest, I already knew that... ;-)

But it always nice to hear that other members like it!!

TConnection,

Mark Saurin has been a member for years and I've always thought he was a good guy. I don't think he'd  knowingly sell something he didn't think was authentic.

You can get Roger Epperson's opinion for $15, which is worthwhile. Roger is top-notch on Elvis. roger@rogerepperson.com.

I agree with everything you say Steve.

I don't know  Mark from Adam but I'm betting he's a good guy too !!!

Hi Don, I'm Adam! I'm a good guy too! Lol.
