Hello everyone, I'm looking at these Bowie autographs on ebay, and after getting a fake from Joe Hendrix, I want to get some better opinions on these...many thanks!

Hi Tim,

That signed single closed for 113 GBP with 2 bidders FWIW.

Eric

I quite like this 1. May start a discussion later. It'd be interesting to hear other views.

Wascher, I did report him and his various aliases.. Paypal took care of me. He was a complete mental case responding in caps and such. Ebay was pretty unresponsive to the continuing allowance of him changing his handles. There are some convincing artists out there making a buck. Much appreciated all around for the feedback. Great community.

Awesome, did you read our posts on him here?  live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/michael-jackson-14

An entire discussion dedicated to him.

Hi Tim,

One thing I recall is seeing this and/or another silver paint pen signature like this paired with the same story and poster offered as proof  -  this was Feb or March. I can't find it  -  I looked - but it did not sell and I saw it/them at least twice.

This signature in question to me looks a bit off for the time period (seems should be later), signed at an odd angle clearly, but constructed "correctly". Some weirdness/hesitance in the rather thin loop, and the placement of the dot for the "i" and the apostrophe for the date seems odd as well with the latter all the way over to the right. Spatial relations seem reasonable, the "8" appears formed correctly - something I don't like here. Its like a soup - ingredients are here but I don't quite like the flavor for some reason.

Eric

Hey you may very well be right. I've seen this style but could even be the case that I've seen something by a forger so many times I've filed it under my genuine list. For me late 80s is when he was moving away from his 'Bo' then dash style signature. Seen that elongated 'B' before also which typically looks like an R still. It looks to me to be done by a left handed. Also really like the date. Feel all dashes are in the right places and the '8' is pretty perfect. As you say though if you've seen the story before it's very suspicious. If it is a fake I think it's very skilfully done

Hi Tim,

Yes, I have seen that poster and that story used to sell this or another. The dashes are in the rights locations to themselves, but not to each other IMO. I agree late 80's was when he was changing/mutating styles to the mid 90's version, but this seems like early 90's and then might sport a second loop but doesn't. It also looks a little bit neat. The angle it was signed at I can't explain. And yes, this would rank somewhere among the best of the forgeries

This is another item that was apparently returned as being deemed...problematic. What do you think of it?

I think that's a tough 1. Despite psa's approval though I wouldn't go for it. The B is fine but the loops are a little off after that. Don't like the date either. I like to see his 9s loop to the left a little at the bottom (again like a lefty) which doesn't happen here

Hi Tim,

We agree again. Here I don't like the overall smoothness/neatness, the angle, the loops...the tips of the 9...several of mine also lean to the right as do many others authentic examples. The tops of the 9's bother me more.

Best wishes,

                  Eric

Hi again,

Here are two unusual but very beautiful authentic examples, one with the tip of the 9 leaning right. The bottom example with "open B" almost calls back 1980:

I have seen other style 9s. It's just a personal preference with the left thing I suppose just because it makes sense to me ha. His 9s are pretty bizarre as he didn't have a consistent way of writing them - sometimes starting from the top and other times starting from the middle. Think that example is just too clean. If he had all that time to sign his signature you wouldn't expect the loops to look off.

I'd confidently authenticate that 2nd pencil signature you posted. The 1st isn't something I'd trust unless it was signed in front of me.

Hi Tim,

Those are ink, not pencil. Although a bit unusual, I don't see any problem with either. Both have Epperson and Gold certification. When they were auctioned I saved all the imegs - about 30 and you can see him sliding around in style and scale with several looking like these and others looking like "the norm" - rapid loops. The creative ones, like the ones posted, have better contrast, more strokes and displayed both dashes.

Best wishes,

                    Eric
