Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

and from the same source (Simon Parr's Auctions) fake MJ paintings, also with 'rareandsigned' coas, like Lot 51 from the 7th December 16 auction (£595 start)

(And see also eg Lot 73 on 3 December, painting of a seated woman).:

Michael Jackson Signed Painting

A painting of a headless woman on canvass signed by Michael Jackson. Professionally mounted and framed in ramen wood. Supplied with coa with authentication certification number. The painting measures: 12x9 inches.

This so-called drawing along with hundreds more is from the mastermind and master forger, JASON MAKRIS.  It is disgusting what he has done.  I bet my entire life that what I am saying is the truth.

Another 'print-like' drawing, this time from seller harrow2105 from 'Kellyville, Australia', and offered at $1200 on 15 Oct.  There is a COA from 'Autograph Ink'

The style of drawing and autograph is very similar to that offered by seller bldg160 for $99.99 start on 6th September 2016.

MICHAEL JACKSON SIGNED SKETCH - THIS IS A REAL AUTOGRAPHED PIECE OF MEMORABILIA

Format: Professionally matted and framed 8" x 10" hand signed print

Frame: 16" x 13"

From Hanson's Auctioneers UK, an 'MJ signed' doodle of an eye in blue ink,

https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/hansons/catal...

Michael Jackson, signed/autograph, signed on a piece of paper with a Michael Jackson doodle of an eye

More rubbish from Simon Parr's Auctions:

(Fascinating that the coa's on these are dated as recently as October 16.  I wonder why that should be?  Possibly because these awful scribbles were only drawn in September 16.   OK, maybe as early as August 16  :)

3 Dec 16, Lot 111 Mickey whistling, £700 start, with 'signature safeguard' coa.

https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/48495809_michael-jackson-micke...

I can't find much about these people online:

http://www.signaturesafeguard.com/

Hi Lizzie,

Google  sales@signaturesafeguard.com I had a look and found one page with an address, London UK.

Mike

Thank you...I'll have another look at that.

I'm surprised that a commercial organisation in London would have such a low profile.....

So, an interesting drawing for sale on ebay com today; purporting to be an original self portrait by (and signed by) Michael Jackson.  This is on offer for $9,000 start, from seller unitedpapercollectors_9 with address given as Colorado.

Nothing unusual about that...except we (appear to) have seen this sketch before; on sale by 'Profiles in History' at $3,000 start, in July 16 (Lot 1686).  BUT, and here is the interesting part; they are not the same drawing!   Compare and contrast.......

I wonder how many copies of this fake are travelling around the world?

1.  ebay com 21 October 2016 (Seller unitedpaper etc)

Michael Jackson original self-portrait drawing performing Billie Jean

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Michael-Jackson-original-self-portrait-draw...

Original self-portrait by Michael Jackson by what appears to be a  black Sharpie.  Signed by the artist.  It is approximately 11 1/2 x 16 1/2 in.  on drawing paper.  Comes with COA by Andrew Salmon, a retired Police Detective who is an Expert Document Examiner, qualified to give expert testimony in court about the authenticity of documents and signatures.

(I have omitted the comment about PSA and JSA to spare the sellers blushes)

2. Profiles in History Lot 1686, Auction dated 1 July 2016, offered at $3k

Note: The top version (currently offered by unitedpapercollectors_9) was originally offered / sold by Simon Parr's auctions in December 2015.

The starting price then was £100.  There seems to be considerable price inflation in these fakes!

To be clear, are you saying that the top one is fake, the one being offered by United Paper Collectors?

The 'side profile of a boy' also seems to be a popular subject.

Currently available from Heritage, (Lot 89479 at $1000 start)  in black pen (framed with a photo of MJ)  Provenance the David Gest Collection:

https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/entertainment-and-music/michael-ja...

Michael Jackson Signed Sketch. A self-portrait sketch rendered in black felt pen, boldly autographed to the right of the drawing by Jackson in the same. Measures 11.5" x 7.5" (sight), displayed with a 11.5" x 15" color photo of Michael and a descriptive placard, all matted and framed to an overall 15.75" x 29". Excellent condition. From the David Gest Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

I believe that not all items in David's collection were necessarily obtained directly from Michael.  I understand that he may also have acquired items from fans, from time to time.

-------------------------------------------------------

This profile was also previously sold in a blue pen version, unframed by Gottahave Rock and Roll (Lot 118, ending 4 August 2012, sold for $2800)

http://www.gottahaverockandroll.com/michael_jackson_signed___hand_d...

A Michael Jackson hand drawing in blue ink, also signed by Jackson. Measures 8.5 x 11. Very good condition with some light black smudges, not affecting the sketch or the signature. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.

From the UK but on ebay.com, a low starting price (£9.9) and one of the strangest CoA's I've seen to date.  The drawing itself seems not to be dated.  Probably 2010 or later......:

It seems to be related to the one offered by Hanson's UK on 24th October 16 for £100, shown below the coa

Authentic signed drawing by Michael Jackson

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-signed-drawing-by-Michael-Jackson...

Signed drawing

by the king of pop Michael Jackson

DETAILS

This was done on Wednesday November 10th 1993 and has been certified as authentic by a registered authenticator 'premium autographs'. This is a very rare item and similar sketches by Michael have only come up occasionally at specialist music auctions. I have found one drawing that was similar to this one, that was sold at auction in 2011. He provided sketches along with his signature to fans and was a keen artist.
