Hi guys,

Came across this one in an old autograph book. Any thoughts?

The only troll on here is you and perhaps look at your own behaviour or ask Steve as I'm sure anyone looking at your behaviour would see you're continually the aggressor.

You asked for examples and I provided them to show that Albert Pierrepont stuff has value and now you realise how wrong you are but instead of apologising or accepting you're wrong you make silly threats and accuse me of being a troll. Your apology is accepted and have a great day!

No trolling here. Just stating facts. The autograph is real, it has marginal value, when I believed it was of no value, you came into the thread uninvited hurling insults. Perhaps the real apology should be from you to Steve for your disruptive behavior, and to the community for wasting their time with your silly retorts.

You seem to have a history of making statements and being aggressive to anyone who posts and disagrees with you. I did not hurl insults, read your own replies. I do not need to be invited to reply, all members can reply, this is an open forum and you do not decide who replies or can post, Steve and others do thankfully.

You asked for proof,I provided it and you got even more aggressive and said I was trolling which is blatantly false.

Your apology has been accepted and I have no need to apologise to anyone for proving you wrong and showing his items are of value, significant value to many.

Have a great day and hopefully, you can calm down and enjoy your day!

To be honest no one came into the thread uninvited as no one was actually invited it was an open forum question. i must admit I was surprised at your comment about it being worthless as I had done some research and found this not  to be the case. I know capital punishment and anything associated with it is a very emotive subject. nevertheless the man was a public servant who was paid to do a job, he did nothing illegal.

Why would such an obscure signature in an autograph book not be genuine?

Perhaps I am too cynical but in my experience, if something has value people will forge it

Yes, but if you look at the autograph, the letter formations match known signatures and it is signed with speed and confidence and no shakiness.

It would take quite a bit of effort to forge that.  For essentially no profit.

Doesn't make any sense if you think about it.

Good point, that's why I come on here to get expert opinions.I am learning all the time :-). There seems to be some mixed reactions to the value of the item. I have seen a similar example go for nearly £300, which if I can achieve that will give me a good return on my original investment

To be clear, no one is doubting the authenticity of the piece.

Hi Mark,

I understand that, it was your comment about it being 'worthless' that concerned me as my research suggests otherwise and it seems that others agree. I didn't realise I was opening up a can of worms when I originally posted and apologise for the 'heated' discussions that seem to have arisen from it

It holds greater value than I initially assumed. Why? I still don’t know, but I certainly don’t set the market. Either way, I’m happy it’s authentic and carries value.
