ANother Bad Authentication Service

Here we go with another incompetent Authentication service. Isn't this Judy Garland Forgery Obvious? This is expected from GAI , but WHO is STAT?

No, I'm not speculating at all. Whether PSA or JSA are 99.9% accurate, I don't know. That seems a little high for any human being...or team of humans. But they're 180-degrees from ACE, Morales, Frangipani, STAT and the other usual subjects.

PSA and JSA are far better than GAI, though not 180-degrees like the others, except for what GAI called genuine until Justin Priddy left. They were pretty much a rubber stamp, outside of NASCAR.

Steve, when did GAI start going south or was it just this Justin Priddys that need to be rexamined?

also; btw who is TTA certified as in Ted Turner who has signed off on Beatles, Dimaggio, Ruth and even an Einstein not to mention the 3 stooges. Is this where you go Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk! or did I miss this one...

we should have a forum that keeps track of these and hopefully it would stay on track (like that would ever happen here).

Autograph-wise, GAI was a problem for a long time, particularly when Justin Priddy was there. But they also certified thousands of Mantle, DiMaggio and Williams items out of Florida that were reportedly an old, known cache of forgeries. I believe Mike Baker called them all good. That's why you often can find those items with GAI certificates for 20% or less what they used to bring. PSA/DNA passed on them--and I believe JSA was shown them, too.

thanks Steve as I will now be heading back to the inventory for any GAI items.

I emailed coach's corner about a designation they were using on a RedSox baseball. I am dumbstruck (but not dumb) of how many balls they seem to have that are Team Signed from the '04 & '07 World Series not to mention bats. Since I have several from Steiner and one in-person that are team signed it just amazes me as to the following three and what people really think they bought at these prices! Problem is along the way there are some out there that are going to surface these items at some point leaving out where they obtained them!

They did answer my question but went stealth when I inquired how can they be using Chris Morales so prominently.

stat authentic "dissolved", and jeff stevens is out of the picture. ted taylor is continuing on under a new name TTA.

Odd how Stat COAs are still alive and well.

You are completely off your rocker to think PSA and JSA are equal to the "the bad boys" of authenticating. Then again as a future authenticator, it is your job to go after the top dogs, and simultaneously ignore the very obvious mistakes of your comrades that are also fellow PSA and JSA knockers. If you believe that PSA is equal to CLM then I think, and I am positive others will agree, your credibility has all but disappeared .Sad.

I believe this Ali was from a private signing Steve Grad witnessed. The number sequence is in line with one he traveled to, and that photo is a popular one for Ali signings. It looks like a glicee photo, too, which is forged much less often, but it's hard to tell for sure from the pic.

steve, that brings to mind the coversation of yesteryear with Daniel Cohen on the Jolie signatures (i'll have to dig that email out of mothballs as i think it's angelina). As he said, if he wasn't present when they were signed he would never believe that it was an original signature. Some of these like above are those that throw some into a tailspin as they don't know the provenance once they start surfacing
