Authentic very late date signature. That photograph was used to promote Psycho III so 1986 or later He died in 1992 so not a large window. That "always" always catches my eye. His earlier vintage signature was much more conventional. Dates for the examples below are c. 1958, C. 1960 and 1982 in a letter to his father.
BTW, his birthday is incorrect on that slip of paper. He was born 4.4.1932.
I post mine for your interest:
very much appreciated, what a nice one! :)
I have a problem distinguishing the small nuances in the signature study. It easily happens to me that I am rather pessimistic. It really takes a more experienced eye, which has experience in addition to attention. I usually have the problem that if it is not 1:1 I prefer to miss it, but with a heavy heart. :D
I was just pointing out that Perkins had been signing the word "always" essentially the same way for decades as your signed photo shows
IIRC, that that looks exactly like one that A.Q., now Autographolic, posted as a forgery and has since renamed and closed the thread and pulled all the images so I can't be sure. I think it has the same flaws if memory serves. It was a UK eBay Seller Lights-Camera-Actionuk. Was that your source?
Got it from a collector from Hamburg who claimed it was signed in person while Perkins stayed there in a hotel. Bought a Fellini and James Stewart one from him as well.
So you think this one is a forgery ?
Thanks for your input, Eric. That's always been the obstacle in collecting autographs. At least all my Klaus Voormann and Werner Herzog sigs were born out of personal meetings.
What happened to my reply?
I can't say for sure - Autographolic took down all his images and closed that thread.
I am more familiar with Perkin's earlier signature. This does ring a bell IIRC.
The "y" and "P" connection seems unusual. Almost backward. Eddy will know more about his later signature. This is much later than I am used to.
No idea what that was - my replies were empty. All have been replaced now with links.

What is left of Autographolics Perkins thread.
I am more familiar with Perkin's earlier signature. This style/appearance does ring a bell IIRC.
