Hello everyone,

I mainly collect guitarists, and do alot of searching on ebay for certain players. I already have both The Edge and Ronnie Wood, but am always looking for others to add to my collection. And it was while searching for the generic "guitarist signed" on ebay that i found several items i would like to get your opinions on. They are stickered already by a third party, GA, but i would still like opinions.

My personal opinion is that The Edge signature looks somewhat off, although i am not that great on U2 signatures. The shaping doesnt seem exatly right, and the tornado underneath i typically see in a different area. But this signature could be totally authentic, and if it is, i might purchase. Any opinions?

The next is a Ronnie Wood that to me also doesnt look right. The Ronnie is the part that concerns me the most, but it could also be totally authentic. The Wood portion is easily forged, and Ronnie often does it all in one stroke, so i cant say much their. But the first name formation has me concerned. Any opinions? If real, this is also an autograph i would consider purchasing for a fair price, as its a very nice picture.

Thank you for all your help and for viewing

Carl

Both look off to me, too

Yeah, the Edge looks wacky (especially the "d"), even if that's supposed to be a rushed example - but there are enough of his signature characteristics present for me to stop short of declaring it absolutely fake.  I'd pass on that one.  Even if authentic, it's not a good example.

Here are the links to these items on ebay.

They are being sold by seller: cardboardlegendsonline

Unfortnately i am seeing alot of questionable items as im looking through his inventory.

Well everyone,

It looks like we may have come across a major seller of very questionable items. I took a look through his inventory, and although i did see a few i thought were probably good, the vast majority looked off. They arent your typical horrid forgeries, but they still are pretty bad. Most every item is certed by GA, and its always possible that this guy is using counterfeit stickers or certs form GA to add interest. His items are all vastly overpriced, but he has sold quite a few, and looking at his sold listings, i see bad item after bad item. I am going to list a string of items below that i am confident are bad. What are your thoughts. These forgeries will probably fool the vast majority of new collectors, so it would be great to put a stop to this, if indeed these are forgeries. And i am pretty sure they are.

The seller cardboardlegendsonline used to go by pinbalplyr, until April the 16th 2012, and then his new name of cardboardlegendsonline was created. Please take a look at these and let me know what you think.

Here is a link to his ebay listings:

The guys who are good with hollywood might want to check out his actorial autographs as well. I am sure they are the same.

And here are his sold items. Spot any fakes?

Here are some items i thought looked off and i only went through a couple pages of his music graphs:

None of the above items i listed looked right to me. And i also noticed that a large number of his items are autographed in the worst spots of the image. Therefore its kind of hard to tell if its good or bad. To explain my thoughts a little above.

The Santana graph looks off, i have him numerous times, and the slant and flow look strange compared to mine. The Aeorsmith drum head to me seems obviously bad. The signatures really dont look close to me. The Alice cooper autographs could be real, as im not the best on him, but he has alot of them, and on each and every one, something looks off. The formation of the A in Alice and the break into the last name all look off. The Joe perry and tyler piece looks off to me, primarily concentrating on the Perry graph. It doesnt have Joe's flow and the sloppiness that Joe has just doesnt seem to be their (strange to say i know, but he normally is much sloppier). The Green Day and RHCP both look off. Paying more attention to the Billy Joe and Frusciante i see alot of odd characteristics if they are indeed real.

The Avril could also be real but if it is, its a unusually nice graph. Avril rarely writes out in block letters every letter in her name like that. Typically Avrils autograph has most all the letters connecting in cursive, and the last L in Avril connecting to the first L in Lavigne. I just have never seen a real autograph from her that has such defined block letters. If real, its unique. Then comes the Axl Rose, and im pretty confident its bad. Axl has a sharper and crisper signature and the A in Axl looks off as far as formation. The Brad Paisley also looks bad. I have gotten Brad numerous times, and i never had one look like this. The B in brad and P in Paisley look all wrong. And in fact, the first name Brad formation is almost identical to a billy joel item he is selling. But i feel pretty sure the Paisley item is bad.

The Bono signature doesnt look quite right to me, but included it b/c others know him very well and i could always be wrong. The Pete Townshend and Neil Young also look off. The way the letters in Pete connect seems odd to me, and their proportions seem off. The Young is hard to tell b/c its just a squiggle, but it doesnt compare well to the few in my collection. The Roger Waters looks off too, both the first and last name. And what happened in the Waters section??? It looks like someone retraced the "ater" part over and over again. Very strange.

So these are some of the reasons i am having trouble with this sellers items. But i welcome any and all opinions. I could easily be wrong about all of them.

I don't like how the Bonos are signed in almost the exact same manner in the exact same spot and with a large portion of the signatures obscured by his black apparel.  I also don't understand why the framed 8 x 10 is $100 cheaper than the unframed one.

Great work Carl

I just noticed another forgery that cardboardlegendsonline is selling. I honestly dont know if this guy thinks that his items certed by GA are authentic or not? He does have authentic items in his inventory certed by PSA and JSA, but a large  portion are certed by GA. And of the ones i knew out of those, i felt they were all bad. So i dont know what the deal is.

I am a big Paramore and Hayley Williams fan. I have quite a few authentic pieces, and for some odd reason, genuine items are hard to come by. The band just dont sign other than at the show. They rarely sell autographs from their site, and they dont answer TTM or via venue. It really is strange, b/c although they are a bigger name punk band, they are no Metallica. And i think honestly Metallica probably signs alot more than they do. Anyway, i know their signatures very well, and most you see on ebay are forgeries. Most are reprints of forgeries actually. But this 11 by 14 Hayley Williams autograph certed by GA is no good. The slant and formation are wrong all wrong. Her signature is fairly easy to forge, but the forgers always miss a couple things on her that im not going to say unless via PM. And they missed it on this one. I am very confident this piece is a forgery.

I really am shocked GA authenticated all these for this seller. As i look over his many many items certed by GA, i keep seeing bad items and easy traits to pick out. Have a look:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=&item=360601453110&pt=...

Now i want you to notice a few things. First is that in almost every photo where their is a dark place on the image, that is where the signature is applied. Its almost like they were put their strategically to hide characteristics. Now i can go through his items i am familiar with and keep pointing out items i see that are off, but i think i found a trait that is very telling.

As you scroll through his listings, notice the autograph traits. In basically every single example, the signatures were signed going from left to right at an upward angle of around 30 degrees. And this is all throughout his listings, although different color pens are used. Now what are the odds that all these celebs signed their pictures in the exact same manner. That is not how IP signings go, and i would be willing to wager that all these items were probably signed by the same person.

Anyway have a look and let me know what you think.

For those of you who know Harrison Ford, Angelina, Pacino, and Arnold, check out his GA items. I cant comment on them, but i think i know the verdict.

Here are some sloppy forgeries in my opinion that i saw right off:

I don't know if you can find out or not but I'm pretty sure he used to just sell sports?
He had a lot of good items, all legit. Had a lot of UDA and in store signings. I'm interested to see when he got into music. Is he selling these for someone else?

eBay seller cardboardlegendsonline 's Travis Barker/Blink 182 "autographs" are without question awful forgeries, of course "certified" by Global Authentics, no surprise. Just another eBay power seller slanging awful forgeries certified by Global Authentics.

Found this one that Cardboardlegendsonline is selling.  It's a signed Garbage photo, now "authenticated" by Global. Believe it or not, it's probably authentic. I contacted the original seller a couple years ago to advise him that Steve Marker did not sign this photo, but rather touring bassist Eric Avery. I guess no one cared, including GA who didn't know and didn't even try.

I honestly think this seller just doesn't know and doesn't care, and since he has an "in" with GA (who has an "in" with Ebay), he's just thrilled he can rake in tons of money for minimal effort.
