Hi,

I'm want to buy my 11 year old daughter her first autographed photo, so I decided to get one of her favorite singer.  I found a few on eBay, but I am not sure which ones look like the real deal.  One is from GAI, which I read a few bad reviews on this website.  Also, another has PSA DNA, but it seems you can't fully trust PSA DNA when it comes to musicians.  So here are a few of the ones I like.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Elliot, I think the one you purchased is likely authentic. While most of the time she does sign with that short little signature, she does occasionally spell out her name like the one you bought. The short sig is obviously easier to forge. Plus, I would say that yours was definitely signed by a female, so there's a high degree of probability, IMO, that it's real.

One thing to keep in mind for the future though: don't be taken in by 100% feedback ratings. There are plenty of forgers and sellers of fakes with 100% ratings. All a 100% rating usually means is that the item delivered was the item pictured, and it was delivered on time. You see, normally after a buyer receives an item in a timely manner, they are so elated that they immediately leave a positive feedback, which can't be later changed. So if they find out in a month that PSA says the item is bad, it's too late to change the rating, but all future buyers see is a positive feedback. Just keep that in mind.

Unable to determine because they don't have a clue.  That's why it's just not helpful to go to them on something like this.

This is not easy.  There are signatures I know well enough to say I'm infinitely better at than PSA or JSA, but they aren't necessarily household names. Sometimes the ones who know best are diehard fans. That's what I've found with U2, though the pros do at least have varying competency with them.

That's why people say it's better to learn an autograph for yourself - or get it yourself - before making a purchase. The big name pros don't know everything, nor to they have the assets to make the call on everything. If you can get it from a top notch, rock solid source (and I'm not talking about the ones with a "name brand" COA).

Rich,  Thank you, and everyone else that helped with this!  I'm sure my daughter is going to love the photo.

I just realized that I am only about 15 minutes away from JSA's NJ office.  It is tempting to just take the picture over there to have an "official" coa.  But after reading all of this, I'm not sure I should even bother.

Elliot, just out of interest, what s your budget for a signed photo of her and do you prefer a particular pose such as on stage, singing etc? Her signature is an easy one to fake and a quick scan of eBay and most are questionable at best.

I think fair market value is $100-$150. There is one dealer on eBay selling a bunch of them in the $275 range, but I think he is going to have a hard time selling them considering most of her fans are still dependent on their parents for money. If there was one that I liked, and that there was absolutely no doubt that it was real, I might go as high as $200.

As far as a pose, I don't particularly care about that as much as a time period. Somewhere over the course of her career, she completely changed her look. I need one with the new look. I will be putting it in the same frame as the pic of her with my daughter at the M&G so the look has to match.

If you happen to be interested in this image I can let it go. Obviously I can take more clear photos of it.

It came from The friendly stranger and everyone here can votch for him as one of the top ebay sellers. It had exact photo proof of her signing it when I bought it sadly though he does not give the proof photos with purchase but it is 100% good and is fairly nice.

Thank you Steven. I really appreciate the offer. I like the picture, and if it was a few hours ago, i definitely would have taken you up on it, but my bid was accepted on another one this morning. I have already corresponded with the seller and paid him for it.

Elliot, if you're still looking for Ariana Grande signed items, there are a couple of album preorders that include signed items, but you'll probably have to hurry - signed postcard comes with the CD for only $15. There are also some premium items.
