Makes you wonder about the Meghan Fox autographs on that site for $25, huh?

I can't identify a good Fox, but the seller looks pretty good. You should get some valuable feedback...just hang in there. GAI is an authentication company with a lot more baggage than JSA and PSA/DNA. They're not in business anymore, but none of the authentication companies guarantee authenticity, so you're smart to ask.

The largest sell of modern Hollywood is www.autographworld.com. They've got a great reputation regarding authenticity and they offer a meaningful lifetime guarantee. Why don't you go there and compare these with what you see on that site? You can check their historical or research sections (forget which) to see images of what they've sold of Meghan.

Steve thanks for the info i will definitely wait out and do more research and will cheack out www.autographworld.com

When buying autographs through dealers, I now only deal with autographworld.com

I know that when I look for autographs I only deal with authentic signatures and NEVER trust any dealer 100% . The dealer does matter (obviously) but it is all about the autograph for me.

I have purchased autographs from autographworld.com and from worldofautographs.com (which is watermarked on the photos) and from a handful of sellers (gasp) on eBay. I personally do not worry much about if the items are authenticated by a 3rd party but I will admit that it is nice to see (I don't want to start a 3rd party debate so please don't bother). I think the trick to 3rd party stuff is to just not assume it is good just because it has a sticker on it. I would still take a look at the normal traits of the signatures. As a collector if a dealer has certified autographs that at least gives me confidence to look at their inventory and have my time be completely wasted.

Now back to the original posting:

The poster was wondering if the Megan Foxs were good. He stated he is a new collector and that the signatures look different. We would expect (and hope) that they would be different yet still hold certain basic qualities.

I am not a expert but to me the bottom three look good as compared to the in-person examples I have of her. And as always one can never really be 100% because we were not there to witness the above items ourselves. The first one posted I am unsure about. I have no examples like that. We know how it is these days out there- sometimes the autograph is hugely rushed and they just scribble some crap. This is where dealer trust comes in handy. I would follow Steve's advice and search autographworld's completed items of Megan and compare them. That would be a great start.

#Steve- no kidding on the cheap autographs. People love to get a deal on stuff. Its a common human emotion and the forgers seem to play into this. Deals can be found though.

# Janice- if you only buy from autographworld you are limiting the material that you can obtain they are not the only seller with good material and they don't get everything. I know of about 10 legit autograph sellers out there that I deal with (and I am sure there are more). I think it just takes time to find them.

#micheal- I hope this helps and you are very smart to ask questions and learn when you are new to collecting. Good luck!

@Tracy O, I am sure there are many legit dealers out there. I got burned by many, which is making me very cautious of some dealers.  I trust autographworld, and I will buy from the  others when I can gain there trust. But until then, I will deal with who I trust :)

tracy .yeah good info dont worry i think ill do more research before buying anything signed

janice .if you have been burned in the past it is then hard to trust other sellers and if you are happy with autographworld i dont see the problem at the end of you day its down to you and i respect that

yeah thanks for that info mike .Wasnt looking to invest in  signatures as an investment opporitunity as i invest in old comics for that . was just looking for a nice megan signature for keeps sack for the wall

I don't really want to make a big deal out of this but I did not know that 'way to nice' was a trait used to determine authenticity. I always thought their were other factors. Too funny.

If signatures that are as you say are 'too nice' are likely fake then the logic would follow that most every Megan Fox that Autograph World has ever sold is then, by your definition, fake.

I suggest you go take a look at their history of completed items. Very nice signatures indeed (too nice really) and with the proper traits just like ones above. IMHO anyway.

Is autograph collecting always about the money? No, some of us just do it for fun.

Cheers

@Tracy:

Would you mind either linking to or uploading some images from AW's archives that you think might be helpful for Michael?

As for Mike Aring's "too nice" comment: If you saw an Al Pacino autograph supposedly signed since the 90s and said, "Wow...I love that!" wouldn't you be suspicious the second you thought about how rare something like that would be?

Any aberration from normal should cause us pause.

I agree with you Mike except there is one thing we forget about here and that is Radio Man. Megan actually likes him and signs for him (always has) and we she signs, she takes a pile of them and takes her time to sign them nicely for him (away from the inperson crowds).  And yes Radio sells to autographworld indirectly and I found out today to world of autographs as well. So yes to see something out of the ordinary should give us pause but we do have to know the signing habits of the stars and not just what we see in front of us or hear about to put together a complete picture.

I take this VERY seriously BTW. :-)

# Mike I am curious to know as I don't know anything about you, how many autographs do you get inperson living in Ohio (that is what your profiles on this site states you live)?

Actually you are wrong. I know personally that Radio sells to both companies (indirectly as I said) and no longer has any dealings with Mead. Radio has been supplying both companies for a long time. He just does not know it or care. All he cares about is getting on movie sets/bit roles and free catering.  I will call them and ask about you.

That is highly outdated info you have.

BTW I don't make things up.

Peace out. Update later once I talk to them.

Who's Mead and why doesn't Radio do biz anymore with him?

For that matter...who's Radio?
