  • Hi all. Just wanted to pick the brains of fellow collectors and their knowledge of storage... We recently bought a dehumidifier which, of course, sucks out moisture in the air. I'm sure it's fine but this isn't the kind of thing which would damage autographs it's in the same room as? Affect the ink I mean. I'm the sure the opposite is true - it'll help prevent mould etc. But just thought I'd ask if anyone has any thoughts \ experiences. I'm always terrified of damaging my autographs!!

Under normal circumstances things are OK in a proper archival sleeve in an album, However, that may not be enough in some situations or spaces. Seems you'd need a hygrometer to make sure you are at 35-55% RH and a thermometer to monitor your temperature under 75° F. I just moved into a 140 year old house in New England and the forced air furnace is playing havoc with nearly everything I own - many types of collectibles.  Humidity under 20% will lead to embrittlement. Good luck!

Many thanks
