The signature is not authentic.  As has been pointed out, the B is off.  Furthermore, I looked up the auction and some things struck me.  The item came with a pass from the DNC Convention in Denver, with seats up high.  You aren't getting anything signed from up there.  The book came with a basic JSA cert.  By that time during the election, Obama should've been a full letter.  The book appears to be a 19th printing, and mid-2008 they were not up to that printing yet.  I believe it is a bait and switch of some sorts.

Obviously you should never base an autograph opinion off a proof photo, or a ticket, etc.  However, when you combine it with the fact that the B is off, it sets off too many red flags.

Thank you for replying Nick - i actually contacted JSA after i found out it had a JSA basic certificate.Their reply was that the item was authenticated by them in May of 2008. As he was not the Democratic nominee, all Obama items were only issued with a basic certificate as his signature was not deemed to be of high value.

Given the information supplied by JSA, the ticket that accompanies it does not relate to when the book was signed.

Yes so that makes sense. So my suspicion that this is a bait and switch is likely at this point. I would not go through the purchase if I were you.
