Forget the JSA letter, I'm not trying to trash anyone. But look at the actual signature.  Does anything look strange to you?

I just joined, so I doubt any of you will trust what I have to say. I've been collecting Obama signatures since 2008. I came across the thread because I'm signed up to receive a Google Alert when "Obama autograph" pops up somewhere.

I'll start of by saying that the Obama autograph labeled as "Good" is actually a pretty bad example. The only place I've seen it is at the link below. It's not one I would buy.

The autograph labeled as "Bad" is indeed bad, but that because it is the signature on the Affordable Care Act and was signed with 20+ pens.

A good example of Obama's modern signature is the one below. This is what most people get on the campaign trail today – a "full" signature with a few extra bumps, as opposed to a more simple one signed before his presidency.

Obama's autograph rarely looks decent on baseballs, but they almost never look as bad as the one I've seen in this thread. If it were up to me, there is no way I'd pay money for it.

Cheers. :D

Thanks, Lucas - I simply grabbed two signatures off Google that could not have been more opposite.

Here's one for certain that's "right" - in our next sale (plug):

Mike Frost of PAAS sent me the email below. Two people sent him the Obama baseball that's the topic of this discussion for a quick opinion, and his opinion was that it is genuine.

He attached some of his Obama exemplars, including a Topps Campaign 2008 card with what looks like a cut of the cover of an Obama signed baseball will a similarly crude signature.

Here's his email:

I have been sent by two separate collectors the Obama Baseball for a P.A.A.S. On-line examination. One of the collectors included the blog from your website for me to review after I sent my results..

I will 1st like to say I have spent a lot of time working on Obama's autograph. I also must state that I am not a big fan of examinations via scan. I have put together during my studies over fifty 100% authentic Barack Obama autograph exemplars. I have spent countless hours and have to say as simple as the signature looks it is very difficult one to authenticate. Barack Obama autograph is very inconsistent and his in-person - in public signature especially on baseballs or non flat surfaces changes even on 2 consecutive items. I would like to share with you some authentic exemplars as well as my e-mail to both collectors that purchased our On-line examination service.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SIGNED 2008 MAJOR LEAGUE WORLD SERIES BASEBALL// VIA SCAN: EBAY ITEM # 280804293811::

Likely to be genuine: Our authenticators believe that the item, if physically submitted to P.A.A.S. for examination, would likely receive our certificate of authenticity.

* Please note that this "on-line examination" is based solely upon the review of a scan. The only way to truly authenticate a signature is with a physical examination.

Thank you for your trust in P.A.A.S.

Mike also included some Autopens and preprints at the end, which I didn't think we needed to add here.

I think the card being discussed compares favorably with the Topps card.

Thoughts?

That's pretty interesting since to me, the more authentic examples shown, the worse the ball on eBay looks. Especially once you start seeing the consistent things that he does when he signs.

I'm in no way an Obama fan or expert, but from an autograph standpoint, I have yet to see an authentic example that helps this ball's case.

Look at the letter formations and contact points in every authentic example. They just aren't there on the eBay ball. In my novice opinion (concering Obama) at least
