Baseball helmet or what is this?

Ok, so I'm looking at signed World Series 2015 items, and I came across this. It's advertised as a signed Royals helmet. But what kind of a helmet is this? It's not a a batting helmet. I don't think it could be a catcher's helmet either. So what is it, and why would you have this kind of helmet signed? Pics are below.

Any thoughts, please?

It is a batting helmet, probably a souvenir replica. I can't tell if the signatures are actual marker or preprinted as many souvenir autographs are.
