Excuse our dust.

Came across this set of autographs currently up for sale at Maxwells in London.  John’s signature looks like Neil has signed his name? Any other thoughts?

All Neil.

I agree that it’s a full Neil set. It’s actually being offered by Maxwells Auctions.

I thought this was a Neil set too.

Neil Aspinall strikes again!

I saw this in a print advertisement before the sale went live and emailed them to let them know. They sent me an email back saying they were 'selling with the provenance given'. Shame.

I sent them an email as well. I haven’t heard back from them yet.  When and if they reply I think I’ll let them know that the quality of an auction house is often decided by how they respond to wrongly attributed items.  Sellers will always have a story and most can’t be taken for face value.

I haven't messaged this auction house. But I have done with other places. It seems the 'we have to believe the back story' provenance is being used quite a lot for places not doing their diligence.

I tried to watch the auction today and it appears the item was withdrawn.

It was withdrawn from the original sale and put back into an auction today. Description was a bit misleading, saying it’s attributed to Neil, but then the story of the vendor getting the autographs.

I was surprised to see bids up to £620 before the lot was up. Insane! The auctioneer made some speech before hand about how it was ‘still from the period’. It ultimately sold for that £620, so £806 including fees.

That’s a lot, but not CRAZY high.

Thanks for the update. I wasn't aware it had gone back up for sale.
