Just get a good COA and your sorted!!
Big Congratulations Paul. It's an excellent piece, a real beauty that adds to your already world-class private collection. It's a gem.
I'm on it.
Congrats on acquiring a great looking piece.
Earlier in the discussion, many were encouraging Mr. Hakimian to reach out to Tracks, Caiazzo, Epperson, etc. for opinions on authenticity. I agree having the ok of any of those adds the feeling of security and certainly value to the piece. My concern is each of them are also looking for items to buy and resell for their own businesses. I've always been concerned about bringing up items publicly I am interested in buying because you don't want to bring extra attention and more (higher) bids. I hope I am being clear enough. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I've always thought the same Chad but in this case it didn't because that was cheap! I'm just surprised that Tracks didn't bid on it if they had already seen it.
I agree.if you are ever interested in a piece at auction.the last thing you want to do is draw attention to it.expecially to resellers like the above mentioned.however I got to a point t with this piece the I needed some kind of assurance from o ne of then that it was good.so in this Instance I didn't care if the whole world knew about the piece.I basically had a ceiling that i was not going to go over anyway.
Good question,Chad.
If it's offered by an auction with decent reputation, the experts generally will review the auction on their own for things to buy, so even if they weren't aware when you asked them, they probably would be by the time of the auction. Most regularly review eBay, too, but of course, someone could swoop in on a bargain.
That said, most value their reputations enough not to act greedily.
As for the piece Paul just won...I am surprised how little it went for. I figured there would be active bidding to well in the teens, dollar-wise.
Steve,I agree with you..I expected the piece.to sell for at least.12k to 15 k.still can't believe the price I paid it for.I called sothebys about a half hour ago and they said I need a export licence for it.they will let me use theirs but it's gonna take 4-6 weeks before they can ship it out.that's crazy.well at least that gives them plenty of time for a tracks loa to be furnished.
That is quite a while to ship. Yeah, I am perplexed on the price. The condition report had nothing to be concerned about on it.
that bonkers, can't one of us get it sent over? i'm in New York in December lol
