That is the craziest thing I've ever heard.dont get me wrong,I don't mean I don't believe it,it's just unbelievable what you are saying.i can't believe People are getting away with that.even on an ethical standpoint,I guess the people who are actually doing this for a few hundred dollars really don't care of what they are doing to historical autographs.real sad.

the story is true. i dont find it anymore in the www but i once wrote a large story about an "im planted" George Harrison autograph into a White album. It was sold with big COA and all that but it wasn`t claimed that it was planted in.

I was the one time owner of the Harrison paper that was later planted it.... So i could proof that someone did a fake job with it.

Awfull story.

I don't understand why people would ink led pencil it's the best because it doesn't fade.
As for placing 4 autographs on an album I never heard of that a little scary.

This really is very messed up. I beleive you based on your descriptions. So is there anyway to tell if this has been done when buying an item..the only way is an in person inspection but if there is even an indent in an album..appearing to be signed by such person.. how can you tell? That may explain singed LED ZEPP guitars, Eagles completes, beatles  sets of perfect quality... I have a Book signed on the title page (White) By David Crosby (a NON signer anymore)..I have strat in white signed by Neil, Stills and NASH .all in person.. you are stating with a little know ho that Clean Crosby on white paper can be transferred to the body of the guitar and all of a sudden I have a n'authentic" CSNY signed guitar? and so forth ?  that "Sotheby's signed Jimi Hendrix Guitar (For example) nmay have originally just been on a signed program or blank sheet?

Its very hard to tell in person. As mentioned an album earlier and I recognized the signatures. But, I have seen another LP that looked really good to me. I even rubbed my finger across the signatures and could feel the slight indentation and held it up to a light at an angle to see the indentations which were VERY minor. BUT, on the Ringo autograph I noticed a very slight separation between the autograph and the LP cover. I'm talking, less than a millimeter if that. Just a minor imperfection on the restorers job but it caught my eye. That is how I found it and then carefully examining the album I began to have my doubts. It's really hard to see and it takes a little bit of time (something most authenticators and even most collectors would never do, especially if they don't know what to look for). I know of high end collectors who "complete" their collections by acquiring items this way. They know that they are never going to be able to get a certain album signed because the Beatles didn't sign it or whomever they are looking for so they "create" it. Not just Beatles, but with other artists as well. The sad part is, I have NEVER seen one NOT authenticated by someone reputable, especially if they have a good backstory to the piece and they have a good relationship with the authenticator. Because, you have to remember that the authenticators is authenticating the autograph only. The people that do this with like Beatles pieces know NOT to put a set of 4 signatures from 1963 on a Sgt. Peppers album. As mentioned earlier, I have seen a Please Please Me with 1963 sigs by 3 and a later 1964 Paul on there. To answer your question, Yes, you can complete a person can complete their guitar that way. It would cost between $125-$200 to get the one signature put on.

Do you consider this forgery? After all it is NOT the original signature on a guitar for example..it is a reproduction  of a real autograph..or are you stating the actuaul original autograph will TRANSFER onto another item (I am unclear on that part).. In other words...with the Crosby on the book page..it will TRANSFER to the guitar and then I have a signed guitar and signed book..correct? Only a recretion of the original..through some paintbrush trickery? It looks real..it was from an original..it just wasnt signed by the artis t on the item in question..is this what we are talking about? if true..this can represent MILLION of dollars in memorabilia that is not really real  SO basically anyone can own ANYTHING signed (barring a few bad originals or a format that just doesnt work well for transfer) but basically a signed guitar or poster etc of almost anything can be created if one has a real original graph to begin with even if it is just a white  index card?

The restorer take the ORIGINAL autograph and places that on the guitar or whatever you would like. I have seen it done on pickguards, guitar body's and acoustic guitars. For some reason (I am not sure why) people chose to have the autographs that are done in sharpie marker like Paul McCartney that was originally signed on a photo placed on the pickguard. Maybe it is easier for the restorer to separate the autograph from the picture. I have seen the finished job first hand and I could NOT tell the difference. They are THAT good. And I knew what I was looking for and I couldn't see that it was placed on there.

SO then when you say "transfer " that means..the original signed photograph is no longer signed..but the pick guard or guitar... if true..I would PAY to have someone take my crosby signed Book page in white..and transfer to my guitar...is this system without errors..can they ruin the graph... based on what you are saying..a GLOSSY surface may work better for trasnsfer than a matte or flat finish (Signed card). Hmm..Technically it is the same autograph jus t MOVED is that what we are talking about?

No wonder so many dealers wanted to buy signed glossy 8x10 sheets.. I also recall Simpsons Creator MATT GROENING refusing to sign glossy sheets for characters..ONLY loose leaf paper or cardoboard pieces avoiding all the glossy items hmmm

The only way I'd agree with this method is if it were the original signed going back over and old piece, but I doubt you'll get Ringo to retrace his signature for you! :)

yeah that wont happen..Ringo stopped signing and was quite difficult when  he was signing. I got ONE out of Ringo ever in person NOT at a record /CD signing..just one "Ringo with a drawn Star no last name.. on the tour he did with Greg Lake/Sheila E. and before that he had only give nhis first name for years..last name really not signed since around 1977 ?? or so.
