I understand that Bowie autos are price sensitive. How much do you think this one is worth

I sent him a message. I looked on his site and there is quite a mix. I've bought in now, anyway.

It came with an Elton John, David Cassidy and Kate Bush. All these also look authentic.

Looking at the autographs on the DB autograph site, some of these look untypical

Yes, and there are many variations, especially earlier and in 1975-1977 or so and that is a work in progress. But he has a great knowledge. I am just trying to help :) And Andy would love more authentic exemplars. It is just too early a year for me.

I really appreciate your help, Eric. Sorry about my style of writing.

There aren't that many exemplars for this period. I'm putting a bit of trust in my source as well as the other autographs it came with. I've also bought the Kate Bush.

Hi Abcd,

please be sure and post Andy's response. :) Thanks. Your writing style is fine!

PS - there are an alarming number of reasonably executed forgeries coming now, some in a new wave, from this exact period for the reason you state (and desirability)/demand) so I try to play as safe as possible. Many have top papers! :(

can you post the other autographs here or on a separate thread?

did u get the elton john?

that would be one for Richard Booth to see

Does this David Cassidy give any cause for concern? Im no expert, but this looks like a very unsure signature to me. My 2 cents.

Update. Mott the hoople played the Dagaham Roundhouse in Jan '72. I assume DB went to see the show. This was just before the Ziggy tour started

how did you come to this assumption?

Did the signature come with a story of how/where it was signed?

I worked it out from the date on the page Jan 72. When MTH played the roundhouse in Jan DB was also in the London area. As you might know MTH recorded the DB song "all the young dudes" in 72. So, if DB was not playing on this date and MTH were playing locally, there would be a strong chance that DB would be there.

BTW the Dagaham Roundhouse is not the same as the chalk farm roundhouse.

Interesting set of deductions

Can't say I agree but I also can't say I don't agree haha

But it can be fun to try and piece a puzzle together

It's not always the obvious answer.
