BRETT FAVRE 4

I would not buy, sell or recommend this piece

I would say definitely fake

Here is a real Favre for comparison.

Thanks all...what I figured.

Careful about comparing modern Favre signatures to examples from the 90s. The style shown is more consistent with older examples. His signature actually got a bit nicer with time, especially after he started his own company (circa 2000?).

That being said, I'll refrain from a fake or real opinion, mostly since I haven't paid close attention to his signatures for years.

Out of curiosity, what's the story on this? What certificate does it come with, if any?

Even Brett's 1990's signature's don't really match this example enough to sway me

Too many atypical traits

The only thing that might explain this odd signature is that it could have been very rushed in a crowd or something. But the "B" and the "F" are still not good matches

It's still my opinion it's a forgery at first glance as well as when compared to many examples throughout his career.

Rich, can you provide any examples that come close to matching this OP sig?

The reality is that his signature has remained fairly consistent through time

For reference, this is kind of along the lines of what had popped in my head. Bigger loop, less pronounced "A" was a bit more common around then.

I see where you are trying to go but it still does not match well

The "B" and "F" are still too far off (the "F" is too big for starters)

And the one you posted is still a fairly normal sized loop

Yeah, it's not a purchase I'd recommend in any case, and you're right about the F looking a bit wacky.

yup

I haven't seen my aunt and uncle's collection in years, but they met Favre a number of times in the mid 90s and have a variety of autographs - some closer to the big loop version, some a bit closer to the modern version. I'd be interested in taking a look at them at some point, as the sources for authentic Favre sigs around that time are kind of confusing, except to long-time Green Bay collectors. Even some of the higher profile companies who had signings with Favre have a bit of a dubious reputation to those who remember them.

hopefully you can post those gems for comparison

Ima a big Packers fan
