Bruce Lee on autograph page. Well it IS worth highlighting fakes!

Opinion needed on an autograph page...

Thoughts?

"Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own."

So should I reject this autograph for being useless? ;)

Looks good. :)

Is it for sale, Where is this being offered?

Authentic. Nice page this is being offered at IAA Auctions Max..

Thanks a lot Rob. :)

Looks great, plus with the RARE Kato added very nice.

Hi all,

My thoughts, lovely piece, although I don't think this has been signed in Bruce's hand, take a look at a brilliant website for Bruce Lee authentic signature comparisons:

http://bruceandbrandonleeautographs.info/bruce%20lee%20examples.htm

The signature and writing all looks genuine, however if you compare with original Bruce signature which has been on this site for many years (I will also attach on here) the signature in the auction is 100% identical, there can be a similarity with signature and handwriting but not to the point of exact page positioning and distances between letter, symbols and so on, even the date and position of the date from the collector is an identical distance from the signature....impossible, something would be slightly different somewhere, I don't see it, apart from the dedication which could be removed to make the signature at auction more sought after... even where the pen is bolder in some parts and faded/lighter in others this has transferred to the example being offered for sale...leading me to think one has been copied from the original, the example that has been on a well respected Bruce Lee signature comparison for years or an example that has just popped up on an autograph website?

It's down to the collector I guess but one example has to be wrong!! I know which my money would be on....

Good Luck

The Bruce Lee autograph on reputable website above. Below the signature at auction and for sale:

Let me know your thoughts guys, interested to see if you agree with me :) I thought it looked awesome too for a start.

Glen,
that's an absolute superb find well done. After seeing the original this has put me right off bidding as I was considering putting in a bid as probably some others on here were. Even the dates are both the same & have the same gaps in the date that have been blotched with ink...
So, for any chance of it being real... it would of had to of been signed exactly the same way.. exactly the same date... I just can't see bruce signing the item in the second pic after seeing this.
Very frightening stuff! This alarms me as a collector and makes me wonder how many genuine real authentic autographs are really being offered by auctions out there for sale.. because this can fool lots of collectors very easily for sure.

Here is an overlap of the two, for comparison as well.  The one disappears completely over the other.  Third set of tracings I've seen this week - and you're right, its frightening.

Hi Glen,
Yep this is the exact reason why I came on here.. As Lee signatures are extremely rare, and even rarer in a 'non dedicated/crappy pen/paper/back of autograph' condition.
People just got a autograph back then.. They never thought hey wouldn't it look nicer on a clean piece of paper on its own.

Added to this I couldn't care less how reputable an auction house is. For me it's all about asking experts.

Definitely my concern isn't the signature (which still concerns me).. It's the duplication of the date same inky pen etc...

Answer 1: at the time the same guy/girl had two autograph books

OR

Answer 2: they directly to the point copied it

If you're willing to part with $$$+ always good to check first

Thoughts?

Hi again,

I suspect it would be that someone has seen the signature as authentic on the Bruce Lee Autograph website, saved it, and had some form of tool to do a direct copy thinking it will make thousands...I suspect it still will, I feel for the buyer...how can anyone truly know what is authentic when these fakes look so good? If I didn't remember seeing the example I would have placed a hefty bid too, the search for an original continues :)

Time for these autograph comparison website to get the watermarks out I think....

Issue is too the seller to this reputable auction house doesn't necessarily know it's fake either.

What is more plausible?

The same person (Janis) got a dedicated autograph then in another book got an undedicated one? And made an inky mistake on the date? Twice? Also owned two completely different paper type autograph books?

Or it's fake!

It's funny because if they had just done the date differently, there would be a small chance Lee signed one then the next person immediately after.. But even then surely dedication would have been asked too...
