Hi, I found this one on Ebay, seller says its signed in 1973 right after the release of his first album. Never seen an autograph this old, and the price is all too high I think. Bruce was unknown to most people in 73, and maybe his signature looked like that back then?

Nice Roger, this letter is amazing to compare other items from that time-period with. Thank you very much for sharing it in here too. I agree, it looks like this letter can have been a kind of "template" to do copies of.. And the 2 other letters Bjarte posted yesterday are also great to study!
I had a little conversation with Roger on mail today, asked a couple of question. The conclusion from Roger is that he is sure that this Greetings-album is a forgery. That ends it up for me regarding that one. But its nice to continue sharing thoughts about the other nice pieces that we have seen in this thread! Agree with you Mark, this is how we learn to distinguish the good ones from the bad.
Interesting one, very similar to the Newsweek. Looks like there are several 1973-76 signatures out there, some of them genuine. Wish I owned one of those..
Here`s another interesting one from 1976, a letter/contract of intention from Springsteen to repay loan from William Morris Agency upon return from tour. Signed twice by Bruce. The signature here is quite different from the ones signed for fans. A friend of mine had it before, he sold it some time ago. I hope its genuine, even if the signature differs from the other ones from that period. (May be b/c its an official contract?)
The letter reads as follows:
"Gentlemen: Reference is made to our tour representatives agreement of even date and to representative Demand Notes of even date executed by us in your favour of $25,000. (covering repayment of our loan balance) and of $14,765.27 (covering our outstanding indebtedness to you).
We agree that not later than thirty (30) days after the end of our tour we will discuss with you in good faith how much of the loan balance and outstanding indebtedness can be repaid to you from the proceeds of the first tour and we will make such partial or full payment to you as shall have been agreed upon.
In the event both Notes are not fully repaid upon completion of the first tour, the remaining outstanding balance on both Notes shall be repaid not later than One (1) Year from the date hereof or upon completion of the second tour, whichever first occurs.
Very Truly Yours,
THRILL HILL PRODUCTIONS, INC.
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN"
I thought it would be interesting for people here to see.
Anybody have an opinion on this one? Or know if his company "Thrill Hill" actually existed back in 76?
The others in this thread: I think the 2 magazines are real, same with the Greetings Bruce Juice showed us. But the Greetings starting this thread are in my opinion a forgery.
Why do think the first Greetings is a forgery? JUST because it has Walls of Fame COA or other reasons?
Its slow written, looks forced. Some of the details doesn`t match either. And Roger Epperson is sure its a forgery. So I wouldn`t touch it. The seller wants $5000 for it, says he payd even more, I`m afraid he has wasted his money...
I am the first person to be lucky if it was real, as I am looking for a Bruce-autograph from that period (72-76) And the seller lives not far from me either, so would really been happy if it turned out as a genuine piece. And a 73-autograph on a Greetings...could a Bruce-collector be happier?
I still think there is a good chance it's real.... And, no disrespect to anybody here, I would rather listen to many opinions as possible instead of believing only one ! This is actually why I'm here ! So real or not ?
I agree totally Bruuuce, I think thats why most of us are here. But I wouldn`t in any cases say that this discussion has made me more secure on this one. Discissions like this are brilliant, and I personally have learnt more about Bruce`s early signatures this last days than ever before!
Hi Trond
I have just came across this U2 site that i find absolutely brilliant ! Do you know of any similar Springsteen sites ? I would be happy to contribute to any Bruce autograph database and if everybody here do the same , it would give us a very good idea about how Bruce and the band signatures changed over the years. Please check U2 East link
