Hey everyone, any opinions on this Harper ball? I've compared it to a few other exemplars and has a lot of similar characteristics but a few things that are not consistent. Any opinions are appreciated. Thank you and happy holidays to everyone!

That looks reasonably suspicious to me. Unless I got that directly from Bryce Harper, I would have steered clear of that autograph.

Thanks for your reply. It's up for auction so thankfully I don't have any money invested in it yet.

I compared these pics to ones with JSA and PSA certs and a lot of characteristics were close. Can you give me any indications what looks suspicious or what jumps out to you? I also did a PSA quick opinion and they got back to me today (oddly enough) and said likely not genuine as well.

Thank you again!

Harper generally puts his “p” much closer to his “H”...this one looks like there are WAY too many letters in the last name before the downward stroke for the “p”.

Even when his was a prospect, his signature was far messier than that one. Harper’s autograph was listed as one of the honorable mentions for “most dangerous” when he was a rookie.

Scroll through some samples:

These are the examples I used to compare against. All these balls have a full JSA or PSA/DNA letter associated with them. When compared to these, the original one I was questioning is pretty close (same number of "letters/bumps"), even the 37 and Luke 1:37 are relatively consistent as well.

I saw those, and figure maybe he has changed his signature style?  Mine looks like the previous ones in the links.  I'm not sure about this style, to be honest.

I agree, looks like he's changed his style a few times over the years. Personally, I prefer the longer signatures of any athletes. They display better, more attractive (in my opinion) and justify the cost a little more. But it looks like he has 3 or 4 different styles already!

that is why I went for his rookie signature.  much easier to authenticate.

Smart thinking. Does he do many/any signings?

he did a signing for Onyx back in 2011.  I know of no other private signing or show but he may have done a handful.

Gotcha. Thanks!

Dang, that looks nice!
