No. The laser is a very low power one used to read the otherwise invisible synthetic DNA dab of ink they put on the item. And they normally only use the laser to identify items already tagged, so it's unlikely one was used on yours.

If you're piece has cracking it's probably a shipping or handling issue. (Is it a signed photo?) Contact their customer service department ASAP. Hopefully you took an image of it before you sent it in to prove it was in good shape.

PSA's laser frequency wouldn't damage your items any more than regular exposure to indoor lighting. What do you mean by cracking? Did you submit a shellacked baseball? If that is the case, you have no real recourse, as that's one of the major problems with coating a baseball with shellac.

Disregard the comment on shellac. I just saw your other thread where you asked about a basketball cracking. I would assume composite basketballs (being bladder based and rubber) would naturally crack along the dimple seams over time.
